Agraria, officially the Grand Republic of Agraria, is a micronation located in the Pacific Northwest. Agraria was founded in 2024 and claims to be a sovereign state but its existence is not formally recognized by the United Nations or the government of any sovereign state.^[1]

The government of Agraria is officially governed as a Semi-presidential republic, with the president as its head of state and Prime minister as its head of government. Agraria is a de facto dictatorship, with the office of prime minister being vacant since June. The legislative branch and judicial body of Agraria is known as the Parliamentary assembly.

The foreign policy of Agraria is focused on diplomacy with other micronations along with recognizing other Macronations and independence movements. Independence is not currently seen as a large priority by the government of Agraria. The nation currently has a population of 5 permanent residents that live in its territory.

Etymology

The name "Agraria" comes from the word agrarian although Agraria is not necessarily an agrarian country. However Agrarian is used as the demonym for citizens of the nation. The full name Grand Republic of Agraria was adopted when the nation was still a monarchy, similar to the Grand Republic of Vuldstein although the monarchy was dropped a day after the establishment, the name is still used.

History

Pre-Agraria history

The first people to come and settle Agraria and the surrounding areas came around 15,000 to 13,000 years ago. The people that came to what is now Agraria were the Kalapuya and Clatsop peoples. They would inhabit the area exclusively in till europeans came to the area and began claiming the area.The Spanish, French, British, Russians, and Americans would settle the area, displacing most indigenous inhabitants from the region. The area would become known as Oregon Country, later the American state of Oregon.

Founding of Agraria

Micronationalism in Agraria dates back to 2020, when the Doggoist Republic of Lavender was founded by the now founder of Agraria A.B. This nation was inactive in-till March 2024, when A.B refounded the Micronation under the name “Federation of Somerset”. It was reformed into the Oregon Republic, becoming a semi presidential republic and adopting the current flag. The nations first prime minister would be appointed around this time as well. The nations first prime minister would be in office for a month before being removed. The name Oregon was originally meant to be a temporary name, however it would be a month before the name was changed to Agraria in July. The name change would be marked by a brief period of Constutional monarchy, known as the kingdom of west Roanoke, from the 13th to 24th of July. In August, inactive political parties such as the Communist party and toupee party were shut down. In September 2024, Developments on Agraria’s territory slowed down, however the former prime minister would return to the office.

Politics and government

The politics of Agraria takes the framework of a constitutional republic that outlines a Unitary Semi-presidential system. It is a de facto benevolent dictatorship, as the prime minister serves more of an advisory role to the President, but can still appoint positions

President

The President of Agraria is the head of state of Agraria. The president leads the executive branch of government, and directs the Forgien policy of the nation. The incumbent president is A.B, who founded Agraria and gave himself the post. The president is also the commander-in-chief of the Agraria national gaurd.

Prime minister

The Prime Minister of Agraria is the head of government of the Republic of Agraria. The prime minister is appointed by the president of Agraria and must retain the confidence of the legislator, who can remove them through a motion of no confidence. The president can also remove the prime minister, but must appoint a new one after two weeks. The prime minister leads the cabinet of ministers and is also the speaker of the parliamentary assembly.

Assembly

The parliamentary assembly, commonly known as the assembly, is the nations unicameral legislative body. It consists of five seats, with three of them being taken up. The assembly can also make judicial rulings, under the oversight of the attorney general of Agraria. The assembly must meet at least once a year as cited in Agrarias constitution.

Agraria has one political party, being the Social Demecratic party, most citizens are independents except for the president.

Military

The Agraria national guard is the nations Military, and is also in charge of law enforcement, due to the nations small size. It has two divisions, the naval corps and the air and rocket corps. It has not seen any combat, and is mostly involved in training exercises and ceremonial duties. All citizens regardless of gender aged 5 to 80 are eligible for military service through a process of conscription. The largest military branch is the naval corps, with 3 personnel and a very small fleet of inflatable boats and rafts.

Foreign relations

Although Agraria claims to be a sovereign state, it has never received diplomatic recognition from the government of any internationally recognized state, but has established diplomatic relations with several other micronations. It recognizes the sovereignty of over 200 Nations, Micronations, and independence movements. It is a member of one micronational military alliance, the Micronational world alliance or M.W.A for short, and founded the United Northwest Nations.

The nation is subdivided into four districts and two territories, districts are divided into communes. Usually communes take up most of the district that they are in, with Jewel, the district is also a commune. Territories are usually large areas of land that are unable to be settled and are not fully under the jurisdiction of the property claimed by Agraria. However they used by Agrarias citizens and important to the history and culture of Agraria. Administrative Dependencies are officially allowed to govern themselves but have no population, usually large, Remote, or unclaimed areas that are under the protection of Agraria.

Geography and climate

The territory of Agraria consists of two properties and the surrounding areas. The smaller one made up of south shade, maple and Jewel, is home to the majority of the nation’s population and hosts the capital city. This area is bordered by many large trees to the Southwest and south. West Agraria is made up of mostly trees, and bushes, along with a small garden in the Wheelbarrow district. These two areas are Commonly known as East and West Agraria, West Agraria is sometimes referred to as Costal Agraria. Agraria has many animals pass through its borders such as raccoons, rabbits, squirrels, deer, and birds such as hawks, ducks, and seagulls.

East Agraria sits in the Willamette Valley and receives approximately 20.06 inches of rain per year.According to the Köppen climate classification system, all areas of Agraria have a warm-summer Mediterranean climate. West Agraria sits alongside the North Oregon Coast.

Economy

Agraria has a small economy, it mostly relies on the United states for goods, services, and transportation. Agrarian citizens make money in the surrounding Micronation. Agraria is has attempted and is attempting to build an agriculture industry. Although it issued currency in the past, Agraria currently does not print and circulate its own currency. Designs have been made for the Republic of Agraria note, a planned offical currency.

Culture

Agraria's culture is heavily influenced by the neighboring United States, along with smaller influences from other areas. However, some unique culture is present.

Sports

Following the Quackers kingdom, a national ladder ball team was established in early June of 2024, becoming the second official sport in Agraria. The national sport of Agraria is crossword solving, one that has been official since its founding.

Media

The nation is served by a single state owned broadcasting network known as the Agraria national broadcast. However Citizens in Agraria have access to media coming from the United States as well.

Music

Many different genres of music are listened to inside Agraria. Although some citizens play instruments, Agraria does not have a music industry, although sometimes music is made as a hobby. The anthem of Agraria “Fair land of glory” is a common piece of music associated with Agraria. The anthem uses the same tune as the anthem of the Estonian S.S.R, however it uses new lyrics that better represent Agraria. The anthem was adopted in August 2024.

National symbols

The national flag of Agraria is the main symbol of the country and its people. Its design is a horizontal tricolor consisting of the national colors of Green, Blue, and Purple. It displays the national emblem of Agraria in the center. A civil flag without the emblem is also used.

The emblem of Agraria, sometimes known as the coat of arms, is the national emblem of the Republic of Agraria.It was mainly displayed on government documents and buildings, along with being in the flag of Agraria. It is supported by a grain wreath, and has the national animal of Agraria, the deer depicted in it, along with three sunflowers.
