The Dillon Government was the fourth cabinet of Aswington. It was formed on June 25, 2020, three days after the dissolution of the previous government.
This cabinet was formed by the President of the Republic, being the first and only time that the head of state appoints a ministerial cabinet. A new Prime Minister was subsequently appointed, hours after the formation of the cabinet.
Background
On 22 June 2020, the then Prime Minister, Babou Chkaya, unexpectedly resigned from office, citing health problems. Following his resignation, the previous ministerial cabinet was dissolved. As a result, three days later, a new ministerial cabinet was formed by decision of the President of the Republic.
On 1 January 2021, changes were made in the ministerial cabinet. Despite the resignation of Juan Cisneros on February 20, the cabinet continued in office until April 14, when the parliament gave a vote of confidence to a new ministerial cabinet.
Changes
The Ministries of Interior, Defence, Social Development and Health were established. In turn, some ministries were eliminated and some of their functions were passed to other ministries.
Several months later, the Ministries of Education and Science and Technology were formed.
