The Ministry of Social Development (Spanish: Ministerio de Desarrollo Social) is a ministry in charge of social development policies. It was founded on August 7, 2019, under the name of Ministry of Social Affairs. It was later renamed to its current name.


The ministry has the following functions:

  • Formulate policies and guidelines to promote the human rights of the citizens.
  • Coordinate the national policy on human rights.
  • Promote actions against discrimination and in favor of equality for women, people of the sex-diverse community and people with disabilities.
  • Attend to suggestions and complaints from citizens on social issues.
