The Chief Justice of Roscamistan is the head of the judicial branch of government of Roscamistan and president of the Supreme Court of Roscamistan. The office has been held by Joseph Montgomery since 17 April 2023.

The Chief Justice is the highest officer within the judicial branch, and is also president of the Supreme Court, presiding over the court and associate justices.

History

The role of Chief Justice was established on 10 January 2022, and filled ten days later by Thomas Jacobs, who appointed himself to the role. Jacobs would serve as Chief Justice until he announced his resignation for 1 May 2022. An election by the Senate to fill the post was made. Two candidates, John Fenandez and Marco Hasse ended up with 3 votes, and after a coin toss, Hasse became Chief Justice.

On 20 July 2022, Hasse induced a coup against the Roscami Government, which was foiled by cabinet ministers. Hasse was removed in the early hours of the morning by President Thomas Jacobs after he assumed emergency powers. This would trigger the Two Day War. The post of Chief Justice was left unfilled for 15 days from 20 July 2022 to 4 August 2022. On 4 August, Nyck Bradaten was appointed Chief Justice by President Jacobs without a Senate selection, due to the lack of activity and willingness to hold a session by Senate President Ludwig Collins.
