Key document

The Arstotzkan Police Service (APS) was the police force founded following the passing of Executive Presidential Order 0001 which reformed the Police Service of Arstotzka and attempted to create a national police service.

Founded on 31 October 2022 the Police Service existed till 20 October 2022 when it was merged with the remaining police parts of the Arstotzkan Presidential Guard and it became the Arstotzkan Federal Police Service. This was also prompted with the Arstotzkan Federal Government establishing the Crimes Act 2022 and Police Force and Public Order Act 2022.

History

Police action in the Arstotzkan Union began on 22 August 2019 with the creation of the National Guard of the Arstotzkan Union, a battalion of soldiers of the Arstotzkan Army Corps who were ordered to keep order and peace around the Arstotzkan Union and its border with New Zealand, as well as to maintain public order in the cities.

This remained the status quo for many months until discussions in the Arstotzkan Federal Government began talking about a better public image regarding the Arstotzkan Union. Vice President Zion Ormsby urged First President Ethan Brinkman, who was also the Commander in Chief of the Arstotzkan Union Defense Forces (now People's Armed Forces of the Arstotzkan Union) to establish a police force. On 15 October 2020, Ethan Brinkman announce the creation of the Police Service of Arstotzka, the 11th Division of the 4th Regiment of the National Army.

The Police Service was never used in major operations and it was dissolved on 31 October 2021 when the Executive Presidential Order 0001 came into force and the Arstotzkan Police Service was established.

Dissolving

In late October 2022 the Arstotzkan Federal Government under the orders from the First President began to make moves to codify criminal law in the Arstotzkan Union especially after the Supreme Federal Court had its first major case, Confederacy v. Arstotzkan Union, the First President decided to establish the Arstotzkan Federal Police Service by passing the Police Force and Public Order Act 2022.

This dissolved the APS on 20 October 2022 and allowed for the creation of the AFPS three days later.
