The Urielandish dollar (code: UDS; symbol: DU$) was the national currency of the Empire of Urielandia and its territories, and the first monetary unit of Urielandia. It was the first national currency in the history of the micronation. It was created on the last days of December, 2010, just several days after the foundation of Urielandia as a republic. The currency was issued by the Central Bank of Urielandia, which is located in the capital city Eboxia. The urielandish dollar was in the process of being replaced by the Urielandish ruby, the new monetary unit by January 1, 2020, because of the economic transition period. By late March 2020, the economic transition officially ended.
History
The currency started its circulation on the very last days of December 2010, after the declaration of independence of the then Republic of Urielandia from Venezuela. In his first broadcast ever to the national television on December 30, 2010, the then president of the republic announced the creation of the Urielandish Dollar as the official currency of the country, declaring that its own value is the same one as of the United States dollar, in other words the DU$ is pegged to the US dollar value. The Urielandish dollar has been the monetary unit of Urielandia for 8 years. Therefore, rumors came and went about the release of a new monetary unit, but anyone never made an official announcement within the Central Bank of Urielandia.
Nevertheless, the Imperial Government of Urielandia announced that the new monetary unit will be released in the late 2020, under the denomination "Urielandish Ruby". Days later, it was announced that the new monetary unit will be released by January 1, 2020. By late March, 2020 the Urielandish Dollar officially went out of circulation.
