The Senate of the Kingdom of Landopia (italian: Senato del Regno di Landopia; often abbreviated to simply Senate), in the Landopian political system, is a unicameral legislative assembly that constitutes the Landopian Parliament.

The Landopian Constitution establishes that the number of elective members of the Senate was 6. The electoral mandate of the elective senators coincides with the legislature and therefore lasts 1 year, except for the senator's early resignation or early dissolution of the Chamber and the renewal of the legislature by the King.

History

The seat of the Senate is Palazzo del Senato, in Città-Capital, where it has met since its birth in 2019.

Composition

The Senate of the Kingdom is the only chamber of Parliament. It is composed of senators who are elected by the people or appointed by the King.

Constituencies

The maximum number of senators in the Kingdom of Landopia is 6 people, excluding the president of the Senate. Each region is divided into electoral constituencies. The constituencies are assigned to the various states and territories through the system of proportional representation based on their population.

The organization for the subdivision of the administrative regions is as follows:

  • Two senators for the Capitale;
  • One senator for Sambrigione;
  • One senator for Centro and Marca Orientale;
  • One senator for Campi and Ponte;
  • One senator for Trania and Marca Occidentale;
  • One senator for Fosprinia.

The oath

The text of the oath that the senator must pronounce before the Senate before the installation of the new legislature is the following:

"I, full name of the new senator, swear to be faithful to the King, to loyally observe the current Constitution and the laws of the State and to exercise their functions with the sole purpose of the inseparable good of the King and the Fatherland. So help me God."

The oath, even if the nation is a Christian confessional state, is not placed before God or with the right hand on the Bible (which the constitution is used instead) as the nation is for recreational purposes and not secessionist.

The Senate regulations require the oath to be sworn in only after validation. In fact, it has been established that:

  • Appointment qualifications must be validated;
  • The oath must be taken.

Finally, the President of the Senate proclaims the nominee as senator of the Kingdom.
