The Flag of Landopia, officially the National Flag of the Kingdom of Landopia (Italian: Bandiera nazionale del Regno di Landopia), is the official flag used by Landopia to be identified in the microinternational panorama.

It is composed of two colors, starting from the top, from blue, white and blue again, these national colors, with three vertical bands, where the central one, the white one, is wider than the extreme ones, as defined by Article 2, II Title of the Constitution of the Kingdom. The law regulates its use and display, protecting its defense and providing for the crime of contempt of the same.[f]

The flag was classified in 2 different ways according to the flag simplicity scale: the first, the pure flag, was 1.6 points, so a very complex flag to draw, while the second, without including the coat of arms, with a score of 3.2, so a very simple flag to draw.

History

First flag

The history of the flag of Landopia was born on 20 December 2018 after the proclamation of independence from the Italian Republic. The author of the design, Carlo I (then Prince of the Principality), wanted to reflect the nobility of soul of the first inhabitants of the newborn kingdom: so he decided to attribute the main color of the flag, blue, to the great nobility of soul of his people, white to the purity of the project and the golden lily to the national monarchy. Finally he added a white star in the middle of the highest blue bar, meaning the North Star, that is, hope and the right course to follow.

Second flag

Four years after the introduction of the new national flag, on 9 February 2022, the Prince published the new national flag on MicroWiki: it had the exact same format as the flag of the Free State of Prussia, where the lines at the ends were crushed by the central white line. The Prince therefore maintained the proportions of the Prussian flag, changing the black color of the two bars to blue and eliminating the imperial eagle by adding the new coat of arms of the royal family. The use of the ".SVG" format was not yet known to the King, so he limited himself to using the ".JPG" format.

Third flag

A few days later, on 16 February 2022, the king published a new flag, this time in ".SVG" format: the change was not substantial: in fact, only the shield had changed (from Samnite to Spanish) and the style of the heraldic symbols of the three families in the style of the Wikimedian Sodacan, creator of the homonymous style. Six months later, on 7 September 2022, the flag's ratio was officially changed, from to 2:3.

Current flag

The current flag was introduced on 17 December 2023. New features include the ratio, from 2:3 to 1:2, and the new coat of arms of the royal family, the Cristosomi-Baldovini. The coat of arms has changed radically, eliminating the three existing houses and, with the foundation of two artificial houses, the creation of a coat of arms with an old French shield. Its position, however, has remained unchanged. The choice of the new ratio lies in the symbolism of the elongated rectangular shape: it in fact refers to the flag of the United Kingdom, the monarchy par excellence.

Design, colours and symbolism

Design

Construction sheet of the flag

All the information needed to fully understand the structure of the national flag is present within the Constitution of Landopia. In fact, Article 3, Title II of the constitution reads:

The National Flag of the Kingdom of Landopia is a rectangular flag with three horizontal bands. Starting from the top, the colors are in the following order: blue, white, and blue. The central band, the white one, is wider than those placed at the end, the blue ones. The coat of arms of the Royal family is placed in the middle band, next to the pole that supports the flag.

The only information not specified in the constitution is the flag's ratio, which is 1:2.

Colours

The blue-white-blue color scheme has remained unchanged since the nation's founding. However, it was necessary to find the correct shade in the color spectrum, so the following sequence of the two colors with their corresponding codes was decided:

Color scheme

Blue White
RGB 1-19-127 38-38-38
Hexadecimal #01137F #FFFFFF
CMYK 49, 42, 0, 50 0, 0, 0, 0

Initially the flag was a slightly lighter shade of blue, but over time the color has migrated to a darker shade similar to navy blue. White, on the other hand, is the standard and pure one.

Symbolism

The only complex symbol present in the flag is the shield of the Royal family of Landopia, the Cristosomi-Baldovini. It is located near the pole that holds the flag, and is the only reference in the flag to indicate the state order of Landopia, which is a monarchy.

Variants

There are numerous variants of the Landopian flag: the state and ideological ones are the two main categories that define the many flags present on the territory.

State flags

These flags are the legal flags[k] that determine, describe or symbolize the nation abroad or within the homeland. They, according to the need, determine a territory, a state organization or the various branches of the armed forces. Some of them are national symbols of Landopia.

Ideological flags

These flags are those that indicate the political thought of those who wave them. These flags should not be confused with state flags, as these are not subject to the symbolic representation of the Kingdom in other countries or in the nation itself. The most extremist flags are censored, but not banned, as they promote violent and terror ideologies. There are currently 3 ideological flags represented below:
