Burkland, officially the Marxist People's Republic of Burkland or the Burklandi Soviet Socialist Republic, (pronounced [bɝklænd], Burklandi: Bravlind Late Proto-Burklandi: Arxistmæn Eople'spæn Epublicræn ofæn Urklandbæn) is a socialist micronation founded on April 3, 2011 which is located on the Antarctic Paulet Island, the Legatian-Burklandi embassy and Mattistan. Following a Marxist, secular and democratic governmental policy, Burkland was founded originally as the ComradeMr Republic, a Maoist micronation which later became Natlandist. Burkland currently consists of three honorary citizens, eight permanent citizens and two non-sentient citizens and has diplomatic relations with an estimated thirty to fifty micronations. The nation is ruled by a elected king and president which makes it a republican monarchy. Burkland styles itself as a nation following democratic, communist and secular principles in its governmental policies and actions. However the nation doesn't have any opposition party due to its low population and uncommitted involvement in politics. Elections have also ceased by decree of President Matthew Burklandssen who also claimed that the Social Democratic candidate did not want to be president regardless. The area that now comprises Burkland was once under the jurisdiction of Chile as a part of the Antarctic Treaty System. Burkland is a sixth-world nation on the Boodlesmythe-Tallini System of Classification, scores a rating of 2.8 on Linden's Categoric-Gradial (Revised) System and a 3.5 on Matthew's System of Human Rights classification created by the Burklandi president.
