The IMTO Secretariat was one of the four principal organs of the Inter-Micronational Treaty Organization and it was headed by the IMTO Secretary-General. It provided studies, information, and facilities needed by IMTO bodies for their meetings. It also carried out tasks as directed by the IMTO Treaty Council and other IMTO bodies. The Inter-Micronational Treaty provided that the staff be chosen by application of the "highest standards of efficiency, competence, and integrity," with due regard for the importance of recruiting on a wide geographical basis.
