History and Meaning

Meaning of the National and State Flag

There is no official meaning assigned to the colors of the flag, but the Ruthenians used to associate the Orange to represent the sunset in the vasts lands of the Kingdom, Black to represent the gunpowder that will be used to defend the nation from its enemies and White to represent the desire for peace of the Ruthenian people. Since the formation of the Kingdom, these were the national colors elected to represent the Ruthenia. In 2015, the national flag won another version, also widespread, which is the "State Version", which on the tricolor flag can be seen the "Ruthenian Eagle", a two-headed eagle bearing the scepter and the royal orb, the State Crown and the Order of the Ruthenian Eagle, beyond the state of the shield.

Meaning of the War Ensign

The old war flag was ment to be a tribute to the Napoléon Bonaparte. Reason being was because the King's admiration for the figure of Napoleon, but also the achievements of his Grand Armée. This flag was used very little and virtually unknown, and never have been seen in the field. His successor was inspired by an unofficial historical flag of Russia. The new flag of war is also tricolor, as the civil flag, and its differential is the addition of the large State eagle on a yellow field (Royal Standard) in the canton in the top left-hand corner.

Meaning of the Navy Ensign

The flag of the Royal Navy was established in April 2015, and was the second flag inspired by a Russian flag, the famous St. Andrew's flag. The Navy Flag has a white background with two blue diagonal bands, forming a saltire, called St. Andrew's Cross. The only real difference between the flag that inspired and that was created is the large State eagle on a yellow field (Royal Standard) in the canton in the top left-hand corner.

Meaning of the Great Coat of Arms

The first coat of arms of Ruthenia was the same coat of arms of His Majesty, the King. The greater coat of arms is to represent the Royal House who reigns over Ruthenia: reason why the coat of arms of the king was the same coat of arms of the country.

The Royal Crown majestically heads the Royal Robe, which in turn, inside, brings a shield with the colors of the national flag, guarded by two angels, representing the strong Catholic influence in the country, as well as the supposed divine protection on nation. The crown is to represent the nations unity through a single unbiased leader, the monarch. While the Crown of the King is over the Royal Robe, the Crown of Consort, commonly used by the figure of the Queen of Ruthenia, is just above the national shield, protected by the king's figure in a classic representation of chivalry exalted by the Ruthenian society.

However, when making the flag State, has also created the new coat of arms, known as the "Ruthenian Eagle". The coat of arms is a two-headed eagle bearing the scepter and the royal orb, the State Crown and the Order of the Ruthenian Eagle, the higher order in the kingdom, awarded only to the Crown Prince and used only by the king. The head of the left symbolizes the proud look to past glories, while the head of the right stately sees the future glories.
