Background

On December 1, 2019, President Ethan Brinkman established the Democratic Labour Party of Arstotzka and it became a small insignificant party that had minor involvement in the National Assembly but by December 5 the party, who was lead by Former Minister of Defense, Piran McGee, had converted over a majority of the members of the National Assembly and began to be seen as a threat to the Arstotzkan People's Party, which for a while was the only party in the Arstotzkan Union after being established on August 22, 2019.

On the afternoon of December 6, 2019, Ethan created the Arstotzkan Summer Summit, which would be a home for members of the National Assembly during the 2019 - 2020 Summer Holidays in New Zealand.

Events

Later on December 6 the Minister of Conservation, who was working for the DLPA, brought in the leader of the DLPA and he ordered President Ethan to shut down the Arstotzkan Union again. Ethan's hand was forced into signing the Fall of the Arstotzkan Union, which conceded all Arstotzkan territory to the DLPA and New Zealand, and where the both parties would hold minor control over both parts of the Arstotzkan Union and giving New Zealand the ability to enforce laws in the Arstotzkan Union's formerly claimed territory again.

Hours after this, Ethan Brinkman, Zion Ormsby and Joshua Smith, who were the last remaining members of the Presidential Cabinet created the Underground Government, also known as the Arstotzkan National Government in Exile.

Aftermath

For many weeks the DLPA thought that the Arstotzkan Union had finally fell, however on February 5, 2020, after many days of converting former troops of the National Guard over to be loyal to Brinkman Administration, the AUDF launched Operation: Blue Shadow and forced a second coup against the DLPA which they immediately surrendered and the Arstotzkan National Government (now known as the National Government of the Arstotzkan Union) was reformed under Ethan Brinkman. The Arstotzkan Union adopted a strong independent foreign policy weeks after this.

The coup is regarded as semi-successful as the DLPA was only able to hold back the Underground Government for 1 month and 30 days, the longest a foreign power has held control over the Arstotzkan Union.
