The National Government of the Arstotzkan Union originally known as the Arstotzkan National Government was the central government that granted political authority in the Arstotzkan Union. The government was formed following the conclusion of the First Civil Conflict on 25 November 2019 and existed as the sole governmental authority till the establishment of Article 20 to the Constitution of the Arstotzkan Union and the Arstotzkan Union Federal Government on 15 October 2020.

The National Government marked a turning point in Arstotzkan politics. Turning away from the nationalistic dictatorial Arstotzkan Union National Government formed at the birth of the nation, to becoming more democratic and inline with the growing socialist policy of the nation. The National Government was also seen as the government most accredited with the formation of the governmental systems that the Arstotzkan Union uses today.

History

The National Government was created on 25 November 2019 following the end of the First Civil Conflict. It was originally called the Arstotzkan National Government. The Arstotzkan National Government was reformed into one house, the General Assembly. This was different to the Arstotzkan Union National Government as it is believed there were two houses, the National Assembly and General Assembly.

During the period between the First and Second Civil Conflicts, the Arstotzkan National Government began reforming to prevent the power imbalance that existed in the previous government. It was marked with the drafting of a new Constitution and moving to a more open policy to immigration. Where the previous government took a nationalist policy and only citizens would be allowed entrance, the Arstotzkan National Government enforced that the nation would be open to anyone and that no one could be prevented from entering. This was marred with an article being added to the new Constitution that explicitly states this policy and it remains in the Constitution to this day and is seen as one of the most important Articles in the Constitution.

The Arstotzkan National Government was re-instated as the main government following the end of the Second Civil Conflict and ruled stably until the May 2020 Elections. During this time the General Assembly had to be upgraded to allow of equal positions of the new parties, going from 8 seats to 12. It was also reformed following the introduction of the twin-presidential system on 1 May 2020.

After the election it had some more changes and helped to build the Constitution up to near International Standards. On June 8 the General Assembly was renamed to the National Assembly to fit the anti-federal policy of the nation. This would change later.

On 14 October 2020, with the institution of Article 20 to the Constitution, the National Government was reformed as a part of the newly established, Arstotzkan Union Federal Government. On October 16 this became the Arstotzkan Federal Government, of which it is today. This was a part of the Federalisation of the Arstotzkan Union.

Legacy

The National Government became a massive symbol of what to avoid when it came to governing the Arstotzkan Union. But was also remembered by a lot of people as the golden era of Arstotzkan Politics as it did not advocate for such Federal policies and according to the First President of the Arstotzkan Union "The National Government, was one of the most democratic eras of the entire history of this Union. However its quwerks and questionable methods the National Government was rememberable and will live in infamy."
