The Arstotzkan Union National Government was the first national government of the Arstotzkan Union. Founded on 22 August 2019, the government lived until the First Civil Conflict. It was governed by the President, Vice President and held legal authority in the Constitution. However this version of the Constitution was lost at the start of the First Civil Conflict. The government is now considered defunct along with the ideals it imposed.
Much of what is known about the Arstotzkan Union National Government was lost following the First Civil Conflict, the only surviving document is the Amendment of Law (2019).
History
The Arstotzkan Union National Government established the original state of the Arstotzkan Union and created the Arstotzkan Union Defense Forces, and the Arstotzkan Union Security Intelligence Service. The Amendment of Law was the only article of Legislation passed.
The National Assembly is the only confirmed House in the Government, however some claim that a second house was established, that being known as the General Assembly. Unfortunately no documents exist to claim the existence of the General Assembly.
Government Operations
The Arstotzkan Union National Government was established with a bicameral legislature, strong executive and a near non-existent judicial body. The legislature was established as the main law making body of the National Government. It was made up of all the founding fathers and was also considered the Presidential Cabinet and actually reported to the President.
The only two pieces of legislation ever created were created by the President and were the Amendment of Law and the Constitution. The Amendment of Law was a code of laws which set out to create a functioning legal system however the increasingly centralised power of the Executive became a threat to the already falling legal system of the infant nation.
Criticism of power
The Arstotzkan Union had a severe power problem. Ethan Brinkman and other members of the government set out to rule with democratic principals however these quickly fell apart. On 6 September 2019, President Ethan Brinkman dismissed the incumbent Vice President, Zion Ormsby, for failing to attend meetings of the National Assembly. Throughout the presidency of Ethan Brinkman people were moved around at will and no consultation action to the National Assembly and Cabinet was ever taken.
By September 2019, democracy was dead in the Arstotzkan Union National Government and all power had been consolidated by the President. Opposition to this growing dictatorship had been brewing alongside it and is why the Ministry of Defense overthrew the government in mid-September 2019.
First Post War Period
Following the First Civil Conflict, the Arstotzkan Union re-established a government under the name the National Government of the Arstotzkan Union and abolished the second house and recreated the National Assembly.
