The relationship between the Independent Federal Republic of the Arstotzkan Union and New Zealand had always been strong however with the Arstotzkan Union attempting to better their remarks on the international community and the introduction of Operation: Arstotzka by the First President, relations completely dissolved. However coming into the new year, First President Ethan reversed the decision to end relations with New Zealand and minutes coming into the new year all relations were re-established.

History

This will cover the relations between the Arstotzkan Union and New Zealand since 2019.

2019

On August 22, 2019, at 10:45 (am), the Arstotzkan Union announced their independence from New Zealand. President Ethan Brinkman announced that the Arstotzkan Union will be allies with New Zealand. That afternoon the announcement of independence was sent to members of the New Zealand Parliament, this included Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters (at the time) and Leader of the Opposition Simon Bridges (at the time). However none of them would reply.

On December 27, 2019, the first embassy of the Arstotzkan Union opened in Fielding. This would later become the Manawatu Embassy. An embassy was set up for New Zealand in the Arstotzkan Capitol District, however it is unknown when it was opened and in 2020 it was closed.

In November 2019, following the end of the First Civil Conflict, another letter of the announcement of the independence of the Arstotzkan Union was sent to Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, and on January 17, 2020 a reply was sent. The Prime Minister stated that she would not offer official recognition however did recognize Ethan Brinkman as the legitimate leader of the Arstotzkan Union.

2020

In 2020, during the May elections, the opposition party, the Arstotzkan Labour Party, had a policy of opening to New Zealand. This was in contrast to the incumbent party, the UGA, in which wished to remain politically closed off and rather have the government focus on building Arstotzkan sovereignty.

On April 7, 2020, the Invercargill Embassy is set up becomes the third Territory of the Arstotzkan Union. It also becomes the second Embassy of the Arstotzkan Union.

For the remainder of 2020, the Arstotzkan Union focuses mainly on domestic and internal affairs. In November the Arstotzkan Union falls into its third war and so international relations are dropped with New Zealand.

2021

In 2021, following the re-establishment of Ethan Brinkman as the First President of the Arstotzkan Union, the nation launches into Operation: Arstotzka. Where the nation shall embark on ventures to better independence, sovereignty and international relations. However in May, while Ethan Brinkman was the Prime Minister, he wrote to Jacinda Ardern concerning the relations of New Zealand with the People's Republic of China. This was also concerning the genocide that was occurring in the PRC.

Another letter was written in June once Ethan had returned as First President after no changes were witnessed.

In a major change of events following the announcement of the AUKUS Alliance, the First President announced the end of the relations between New Zealand and the Arstotzkan Union. All embassies were closed across the Greater Union and all relations were completely shutdown.

This move shocked people across the nation and in New Zealand. Relations had been held since 2019 and for the first time, these were ended.

On the last day of 2021 (December 31, 2021), Ethan delivered to the nation, Executive Presidential Alert 0002, which reversed the previous decision to end relations with New Zealand. At 11:59pm on the night of December 31 all diplomatic missions in territories across the Greater Union were opened to New Zealand for the first time.

2022

In February 2022, the Arstotzkan Union announced it would defend New Zealand in the event of a third world war or major global conflict and would support New Zealand in any way possible. This was emphasised in July and August 2022, when the Sino - American & Taiwan Crisis reached its peak and nearly begun a third global conflict.

2023

On 19 January 2023, with the announcement of the resignation of Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, First President Ethan Brinkman announced in a final letter to the Prime Minister the full support of the Arstotzkan Union towards the security of New Zealand.
