The United Government Alliance otherwise known as the Coalition Government, was the largest party in the Arstotzkan Union from its unofficial formation on 23 March 2020 until it became the sole ruling party after it was joined by the Arstotzkan Labour Party, following its victory in the 2020 Election. The coalition was created to ensure a victory for Ethan Brinkman who was running for re-election and promised that anyone in National Government of the Arstotzkan Union shall remain in their place.
Since the victory of the UGA over the Arstotzkan Labour Party, the subsequent decedents of the party have retained either absolute or near absolute control over the political landscape of the Arstotzkan Union.
History
On 23 March 2020, Peter Gedye and Ethan Brinkman reached an agreement to form a coalition government for the upcoming election, with plans to run jointly. Subsequently, on 2 April, the United Government Alliance (UGA) was established, unifying the Arstotzkan People's Party (led by Ethan Brinkman), the Arstotzkan Pirate Party, and the Communist League of the Arstotzkan Union (both led by Peter Gedye).
Following the election on 1 May 2020, the UGA secured 57.6% of the votes, achieving a majority over the Arstotzkan Labour Party. Later that evening, the head of the Arstotzkan Labour Party formally transferred leadership to the UGA.
On 12 May 2020, the UGA underwent a name change, becoming the Second Democratic People's Party of the Arstotzkan Union, with the inclusion of the three former party leaders. Presently, these parties retain their respective leadership, all falling under the governance of the First General Secretary of the Second Democratic People's Party of the Arstotzkan Union.
Today the United Government Alliance is known as the Arstotzkan Social Liberal Democratic Party and has sole power over all bodies of the Arstotzkan Federal Government.
