The Communist League of the Arstotzkan Union is a Lenin-Marxist communist and current body party inside the Socialist Party of the Arstotzkan Union. It was established on 18 March 2020, and was registered on the same day. It is the third oldest party in the Arstotzkan Union behind the Democratic Labour Party of Arstotzka but the second oldest party still in operation.
The Communist League was created along side the Arstotzkan Pirate Party. Both of which are under operations of the General Secretary Peter Gedye. The party is at odds with the Arstotzkan Future Party run by First President Ethan Brinkman, as the First President has previously banned communism in the Arstotzkan Union and only allowed Socialism, however due to the political standing of Peter in Arstotzkan politics, the Communist League is allowed to continue operations.
History
The Communist League of the Arstotzkan Union was founded on 18 March 2020, nine days after the founding of the Arstotzkan Labour Party. The first independent political party created since the Arstotzkan Wars. It was founded along side the Arstotzkan Pirate Party, when Peter Gedye announced his intention to run for the Presidency.
Incumbent President, Ethan Brinkman realized this was a threat to his power, as Peter was a more favored candidate in the Arstotzkan National Government. Ethan decided to form an alliance with Peter and talks began on 20 March 2020. By 23 March 2020 it was announced that the Arstotzkan People's Party, the largest party in government would join forces with the Communist League and Pirate Party and form a Coalition Government.
On 1 May 2020, the United Government Alliance, the new name for the Coalition won the Presidential election in a landslide. Peter Gedye became the General Secretary of the United Government Alliance and Second President of the Arstotzkan Union.
Since the election, the Communist League has had little influence over politics. It has remained a body party through the changes of government over the years.
