Turtonian (Turtoin Movuen) was one of the two official languages of Turto (the other being English) and the least spoken. It was the official court language of Turto although rarely used. At least three pieces of Turtonian legislation were dually written in English and Turtonian. The language was a regulated language and maintained by the Ministry for Media, Communication and Classification.
Turtonian is now considered a lost language. The only known dictionary of the language has been lost and the remaining terms come from the words reverse-translated from former court documents.
Alphabet
There were two official scripts in Turtonian although three were used. The three scripts are:
- Roman Turtonian (Malfaben) (official) - A variant of the original "Movuen" alphabet excluding the word separators, this was the main script found in Court Documents.
- Roman Movuen Thrano (Mal'fan Tar'an'ow) - A romanisation of the original alphabet, used mainly for the teaching and construction of the language, but also used in earlier documents.
- Movuen Thrano (
) (official) - The original and "official" script used in legislation. Tedious to translate, it fell out of favour for Roman Turtonian by the end of the Kingdom.
Roman Turtonian
Roman Turtonian was developed from Movuen Thrano as a more advanced and quicker method of writing long amounts of text. It was adopted officially in May 2013. The pronunciation of letters is almost identical to that of English. It has not been officially used since the end of 2014.
Roman Movuen Thrano
Recognised as the original roman alphabet for Mo'vu'en it was not recommended for use by the Ministry for Media, Communication and Classification.
