The Imperial Order of the House of Terlisner-Harms (officially Imperial Order of the Cross of the House of Terlisner-Harms) is an order of chivalry founded by August IV on 1 January 2021 and it is the highest order of the Empire of New Prussia.
Appointments are made at the sole discretion of the Sovereign and does not need the approval of the government. This Order can be awarded anytime except for holidays. The Sovereign may appoint only 4 of his/her citizens per rank in honor of the first Emperor of New Prussia August IV. The Sovereign may appoint as many supernumerary Knights -Members of the Royal Family and Foreign Heads of State- as he/she wishes.
History
The Order itself wasn't really official until 1 January 2021. The motto Das Kreuz ist Christlich which is German for "The Cross is Christian" was thought up by August IV. The Empire of New Prussia recognizes the cross as a Christian symbol.
Composition
The Order is considered as a personal gift from the sovereign, where he doesn't require permission from government to appoint members. The membership consists 4 total Knights/Dames including supernumerary members.
Membership
In order to become a member one has to already have an order of the Empire of New Prussia, example: King Frederick's Order of Merit, then they will have to submit a letter of Recommendation to the Gentleman/Lady of the Black Rod who is a representative of the order and the Chancellor of the Order. The Black Rod will make sure the merits have been met, and if they do, he/she will forward the letter to the Chancellor of the Order who will then double check the requirements and will do a background check of the recipient to see if the have a previous order that belongs to the Empire of New Prussia or one of its states. If the requirements are not met, then the recipient of the letter will receive a letter of denial from either the Black Rod or the Chancellor of the Order meaning that the recipient has not met the criteria for the order. If the recipient has met the criteria, the Chancellor of the Order will forward the recommendation letter to the Sovereign to sign or deny the recommendation. If the Sovereign signs, the recipient will be sent a letter of confirmation stating that the recipient has met the criteria and will be given the title of Apprentice-Elect. The letter of confirmation will contain the date of the investiture ceremony and where it will take place. The recipient will be given the title of Knight/Dame Apprentice during the investiture when the Sovereign knights them. Members of the imperial family of New Prussia do not have to have a previous order because they are born into it.
Officers
Officers of the order are not of the four members because they are temporal.
Chancellor of the Order: Has the power to accept or decline the letter of recommendation and has the power to degrade members with approval of the Sovereign.
Gentleman/Dame Usher of the Black Rod: The representative of the order, maintains discipline within the order and grants access to the investiture ceremony.
Secretary: keeps records of previous and current knights/dames of the order and does background checks on recipients.
