Norwood, or the Federation of Norwood (Italian: Federazione di Norwood) is home to St.Charlie's citizens on or near the American States of Ohio and Maine, and is one of the Federations of the Federal Republic of St.Charlie.

With a population of 12, it is one of St.Charlie's medium-small sized Federation; while being much larger than Federations like Egtavia, it is no where near the size of Federations like Kozuc. Geographically located in South-Western Ohio, the Federation has a primarily Temperate Climate. Through over 70% of the Territory Whisky Road dominates the geography, being made up of a conglomerate of an old US Railroad and many small dirt paths going alongside it. Structures only occupy about 5% of the territory, with a Brick House, Chicken Coop and Shed taking up most of that. The rest is occupied by parks and gardens.

Since its foundation in 2010, Norwood has went through many Governments and Political systems, but has consistently held on to a Germanic and American 40s/50sesque culture. Norwood has been noted for its picturesque tours of Whisky Road and for its astonishing self reliance; Norwood not only stocks many weeks worth of Food and Water, but also has expansive vegetable gardens and chickens.

On 3 June 2012, it was announced that the Duchy of Stonland (As Norwood was then known) would be leaving the Saxon Empire and applying to join the Federal Republic of St.Charlie. By the 5th of June a FA Commission was created to vote on the Application, which was sent to Parliament soon after. The commission was closed on the 20 July 2012.

History

The EDO

In early April 2010, "Samuel I" became interested in the prospect of micronationalism. He originally met with his friend Nikolaj I where they decided a micronation would be a fun endeavor. Over the next month they would meet and decide on many things for the nation that would eventually become known as Ohio, specifically the Empirical Dyarchy of Ohio.

Samuel I leaned towards a liberal multi-party democracy while Nikolaj I leaned towards a Absolute Monarchy/Dictatorship. They settled on a mix developed by Samuel I via a nation with two equal leaders: A democratically elected Chancellor (Nikolaj I was not very fond of having a "President") and a hereditary Emperor/Empress. Parliament was elected by allowing people to vote for political parties using proportional voting. On 27 May 2010 the EDO was officially formed. The declaration of independence was writen and sent to The Ohio Empire. War was never pursued and talks of an alliance occured. The military was formed soon after. After a couple of days The Liberal Democratic Party was formed with The Emperor as its only member. In late may after summer brake had been going on for a few days HIH Chancellor and Crown Prince Nikolaj I left on a vacation.

From EDO To FRV

From 1 June 2010 to 15 July 2010 Vian would be reformed into a Federal Republic. The monarchy had no supporters and The Federal Republic brought in a change that was accepted by all as a good thing. This Federal republic however, would not stand very long.

First Election

For More Information, visit Vianese Executive Election 2010

Officially "The Vianese Executive Election 2010", the positions of Prime Minister and President were up for grabs. Samuel I and Nikolaj I ran against each other for the position of Prime Minister, Samuel I running as a candidate endorsed by the liberal Leftist Party of Vian, Him being the Chairman of the LLPV and Nikolaj I running also as an independent, however he ientifies with The LLPV. Justin I and Tanaja I were the only candidates running for president. Nikolaj I and Tanaja I won the elections, with Nikolaj I winning by one vote and Tanaja I winning by over 5 votes. Samuel suspected election fraud, and so tensions between the two escalated.

Inactivity

Shortly after the elections the nation fell into a period of inactivity because Nikolaj I was unable to contact Samuel I for reasons unknown. This would not be such a problem but with the current system of proportional voting and Samuel I's control over the LLPV the nation was deadlocked. After this eventually Samuel I was one of the last citizens. Later it was discovered that Nikolaj I had created his own nation, the Republic of Norovia, which would later join Vian in the Nemkhav Federation and later seccede with them.

St. Charlian Comonwealth

On 16 November 2010 Vian was accepted into the commonwealth as a territory (under the name of Tammarack) and a few days later submitted a Federationship request to the St. Charlin Parliament, but due to email issues it was not received until late January, 2011. Samuel I was notified of this and waited for a reply but it never came. On 4 April 2011 Tammarack seceded from the commonwealth due to old allies like Nikolaj I expressing wishes for a new state.

After Seccession

After Seccession a few old citizens rejoined, rising the citizen count to 8. 4 Provinces were formed. After a survey was held the a survey was held on the new constitution and it was deemed "to complicated". After the results came in and a short conversation was held with a few citizens it was decided that the state would transition to a Rennie-Gaffneyist Socialist Democracy. A Transitional Citizens Council was formed to vote upon the new constitution, which is composed of all citizens. The Council found that they overwhelmingly now supported having a Monarchy. On May 27, 2011 Escitrar became a kingdom. The Parliament passed many laws concerning succession, knighthoods and nobility to name a few.

Nemkhavia

On 22 July 2011 (Or July 21 in some accounts) a treaty was signed and Escitrar joined the Nemkhav Federation as the Kingdom of Vian, under the leadership of King Samuel I of the Vianese. The Aulic Council was formed and His Royal Majesty was given the office of Minister of Infrastructure for Nemkhavia.

Saxon Empire

Samuel I had always been good friends with King Penda John Anderson (Even so much as to be appointed leader of the Church of the North), and so early in January after Samuel I expressed that he may leave the Nemkhav Federation he was convinced by King Penda to join the Saxon Empire, which would be composed of Valnor, Vian and West Germania, with Valnor's leader as Emperor. A few days later Valnor dropped out of the plans but urged King Penda to continue with them, and so after much discussion it was decided that King Penda and Samuel would be Co-Emperors. On 15 January 2012 the letter was sent affirming that independence would be achieved in 3 days in accordance with Nemkhav Federal Legislation. On 3 June 2012, Stonland left the Empire and applied to join St.Charlie. On 20 July 2012 the session of Parliament closed and Norwood was accepted.

Geography

A map showing Norwood

Norwood's Geography is Dominated by two main features; the City of Worith and Whisky Road. Whisky Road is a huge Railway that is overgrown; while Worith is a well trimmed city full of Parks, Gardens and maintained roads.

Climate

Norwood belongs to a climatic transition zone, at the northern limit of the humid subtropical climate and the southern limit of the humid continental climate zone (Koppen: Cfa/Dfa, respectively). Summers are hot and humid, with significant rainfall in each month. July is the warmest month, with highs just above 85 °F (29 °C), reaching 90 °F (32 °C) or above on 24 days per year, often with high dew points and humidity. Winters tend to be cold and snowy, with January, the coolest month, averaging at 30.4 °F (−0.9 °C); however, lows may reach 0 °F (−18 °C) several times a year. Extremes range from −25 to 109 °F (-32 to 43 °C) on 18 January 1977 and 21 July 1934, respectively.1

Counties

Norwood is divided into two Counties (or Provincia). Each citizen must register to one of these Counties. Each County may elect a Mayor to oversee local Military and Law Enforcement and to serve on Norwood's Assembly. All Laws from the Federation-Wide Assembly may override Norwood'n Laws, however.

Worith

A view of the Pres. Palace in Worith

Worith is a both a County and the Capital City of the Federation, housing all of its permanent population. Worith contains all government buildings and residences, and is also the Agricultural Capital of Norwood.

Places of interest

Together with the Presidential Palace, Worith hosts other places of interest as well, often used by visitors when visiting the county. Probably the most notable one was Chicken Coop, built in 2011, which can supply Worith with up to 40 Eggs a Week, most of which are sold to take care of upkeep costs on the coop. Another major place of interest is the Clay-Fired Oven, in which bread and pizza is baked. There is also a group of roads within Worith; Tesla Drive, Worith N., Worith S. and the Iron Way. Also featured is the future site of Twistmynster Cathedral of the Church of the North. Another popular attraction is Nemed Park.

Whisky

The Symbol of Whisky

Whisky is the portion of Norwood that follows Whisky Road; its namesake. It is an overgrown railroad that features many species of weeds, flowers, rabbits and lizards. It has no permanent population. It features two large concrete bridges; which are claimed, but not the land below them. Whisky features heavy US foot traffic, most passing through. Whisky is used as a route to many US Shopping malls and the US Street of Glenndale. The railroad that Whisky Road is a part of continues on for hundreds of miles in each direction, going through the entirety of cincinnati, continuing through Ohio and Indiana. Whisky is named for the famed St.Charlian Hero of the same name, Whisky I.
