Dadara is a constituency represented in the Lok Sabha, the unicameral legislature of Vishwamitra and is one of the 3 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state of Kamrupa, the other two being National List and Chandril. This constituency was created in 2019 after the delimitation carried out to increase the seats of the Lok Sabha from the existing 28 to 32. The delimitation also took place months after the annexation of the territory of Dadara to the union. The constituency, since its creation, has continuously been represented in the Lok Sabha.

History

The constituency was created in June 2019 under an act of the parliament to increase the composition of the Lok Sabha. Thereupon, four new constituencies were created to elect members of the house. By-elections were held on 3 June 2019 and the results were declared were declared thereupon. The ruling Friends Societal Congress (now the NPC) was victorious in 3 of the 4 constituencies. The Dadara constituency was won by the opposition Friends Society Independent Party. Later in September the same year, the entire Independent Party parliamentary group merged with the Friends Societal Congress.

In the 12th Lok Sabha, the seat was won by Ankurjyoti Thakuria of the National People's Congress. Daniel Lee of the same party won from the constituency in the March 2021 general election to the 13th Lok Sabha however he resigned in August 2021. In the by-election held in August 2021, Jayden Dagsa of the NPC defeated Royalist Party of Vishwamitra chief Thomas Bainbridge and won from the constituency. Dagsa won from the constituency for the second time during the November 2021 general election to the 14th Lok Sabha but resigned a month later. In the bye-election held in January 2022, William Cooper of the Social Democratic Party was elected unopposed from the constituency.

During the 2022 general election, NPC-backed independent candidate Arsal Abbas Mirza was elected unopposed from the constituency.
