The South Galwegian Republican Army (SGRA) was the provisional army of the South Galwegian Democratic Republic, a breakaway group in Roscamistan. The SGRA was the only group in the South Galwegian government, holding complete power over the breakaway state. The group was opposed to the existence of United Front, Oranmore and the Presidency of Thomas Jacobs. It dissolved on the 26th of February 2023 after surrendering to the Roscami army.

History

In November 2022, reports of a rebel group existing in Greater Roscam were published. No action was taken until January 2023, when the South Galwegian Republican Army revealed itself and announced the secession of the then Oranmore Autonomous Region as the People’s Republic of South Galway, proclaiming socialism across the region, and declared Thomas Jacobs to be their enemy. As soon as this happened, war was declared by the Roscami government and martial law was imposed.

After on the coup of the 16th, the Roscami government came under an interim liberal administration. Numerous allies of the nation gave their backing to the right wing Roscami Government in Exile and South Galway, giving the breakaway state the advantage. After the end of the Government in Exile and of Jacobs, South Galway lost all its new found strength, though the Ballinfoylish Fatherland Front gave informal support to the group.

In February, the SGRA-led Volkskammer changed the name of the region to the South Galwegian Democratic Republic, but it was in vain. The group had been pushed back past Oranmore, and were completely out of Roscam. On the 13th, Oranmore was finally created a province, now the war was practically over for the SGRA. On the 26th, the Volkskammer accepted its fate and decided to surrender to the Roscami army. Martial law was abolished in Greater Roscam, and the SGRA scattered.

Structure

A largely independent group, the South Galwegian Republican Army was socialist in nature, opposing the Catholic mono-ethnic regime of Thomas Jacobs, instead proposing a multi-ethnic secular socialist state. The group largely consisted of individuals born of Polish, Pakistani and Russian immigrants to Ireland.

A key ideal in the group was the removal of Jacobs, who saw him as a dictator.
