Politics of Easway

The politics of the Common Union of Easway operates under the framework of a directorial federal democratic republic. The Co-operative Government decentralises different political and community interests through the unicameral legislature the United Common Assembly and its federated councils, united by the head of state Imperative Council and head of government National Directorate. The Grand Councillor is the head of the Common Union and the General Director is the head of the National Directorate, thus government chief. The United Common Assembly is led by a President, who is speaker of the house and presides over all federal commissions. The Supreme Court of Easway is the superior judiciary.

Easwegian subdivisions include the commonwealth councils and the municipal councils (Bear Island commonwealth: Essrina, Boriopa City, Urdport; Pomors Frontier commonwealth: Maritime Hopen) contained within. The Pomors Frontier also includes the Common Sailors National Park and the Associated Community of Vardø Town Islands. Commonwealths have the power to tailor most legislation passed by the federal government to their commonwealth, and municipalities as local government set cultural and educational policy and have seats on devolved committees. The Associated Community is an autonomous condominium.

Easway declared independence on 19 December 2017 as the Mainland of Easway and after a period of Provisional Government established in January 2020 the Directorial Federation Constitution of Easway. The Constitution is a supreme document that regulates the balance of power within Easway, but may be amended through 60% of the United Common Assembly and subsequently a majority vote in a popular referendum. Between 2017 and 2023, Easway was dominated by the first Grand Councillor Emizerri, who developed the Unified Easwegian language and enacted the Seven Masts; Sovereigntism, Localism, Co-operatism, Directorialism, Federalism, Secularism and Humanitarianism; enshrined in the Constitution. In November 2023, Squ Bai was elected to succeed him.

Easway is commonly described as a polymorphic guided democracy, which balances the interests of its polyethnic populace through federated councils and democratic Popular Committees, whilst maintaining a competitive authoritarian federal government, unified through Easwegian communitarian nationalism, known as Easwegianism. Economically, Easway is market socialist and relies on strong worker-owned co-operatives and trade unions to regulate the balance of power and halt monopolies.
