The National Directorate is the executive committee serving as collective head of government of the Co-operative Government of the Easwegian Common Union. Established on 10 August 2019, it is made up of members of and answerable to the United Common Assembly, which are both elected every six months in May and November.

The National Directorate is multi-partisan and operates through the principles of collegiality, that is to say different political parties and ethnic groups are represented within, all considered relative equals. The National Directorate is governed by the 2020 Constitution of Easway and states its commitment to polycultural socialism. The National Directorate is led by a primus inter pares General Director of Easway, currently Metallityöt since the November 2023 Easwegian general election.

The National Directorate was established on 10 August 2019, within the Provisional Government era (2017-2020) through direction of the Easwegian Mainland Council of the Constitutional Convention of Easwegians Assembled (the Constitutional Assembly), as the Easwegian Committee for Language and Culture (ECLC), then officially part of the head of state Chief Curacy branch under direction of Chief Curator "Emperor" Emizerri. Cyseigo, then serving as a personal secretary to the Chief Curacy, within the Ouroboros' Serpents of Easway, was appointed by the Easwegian Mainland Council as Director of the ECLC. The Director of the ECLC then appointed subdirectors, tasked with certain committee missions.

The National Directorate replaced the direct democratic and decentralised People's Committees, during Chief Curator Emizerri's June to September excursion to the United Kingdom in what was styled as the 'Great Silence.' President Aleksou Desourre was in charge during Emizerri's absence and convinced the Constitutional Assembly to replace the People's Committees with provincial councils. Through this action, the provisional districts of Essrina and Urdport, safeguarded through the Commissars of the Ouroboros' Serpents of Easway Mainland Council whilst largely run by the PCs, were replaced with a local government under the Presidency. Provisionally, the ECLC handled affairs of the state during the Great Silence and then helped create the architecture for the ratification of the 14 January 2020 Directorial Federation, voted on by the public, through the rest of 2019. Through the establishment of the Directorial Federation, the presidency was abolished in favour of provincial governors who led provincial directorate cabinets, ushering in what is now referred to as the Second National Directorate.

Second National Directorate

The second national directorate was formed on 14 January 2020 at the ratification of the constitution and the establishment of the Directorial Federation, which replaced the Provisional Government with what was known as the Mutualist High Government. Previously being under the head of state Chief Curacy, the Easwegian Committee for Language and Culture was renamed to the Federative Easwegian Directory (FED). The FED was led federally by Csyeigo as Senior Director. Notable members included:

  • Senior Director and Director of Essrina (later Boriopan) Culture (appointed 14 January)
  • Director of Boriopan Spirit Neicou (appointed 14 January)
  • Director of Essrina Spirit Samme (appointed 20 January)
  • Director of Essrina Health Eichorn Bai (appointed 29 April)

Whilst highly decentralised through provincial governance, the provincial designation was in name only and acted simply as a seat of office. In reality the size of the provinces, as well as the co-ordination required to tackle the COVID-19 Pandemic in Easway meant that the FED acted in a more centralised orientation. Local affairs were run through Mutual Aid Teams.

The FED created the Control Centre Espionage Association (CCEA) on 23 January 2020 in response to security concerns that arose during increased transference to civilian governance, including the legalisation of political parties. Led by Chief Co-ordinator Emizerri and administered by Senior Director Csyeigo, the CCEA was officially a subsection of the national defence. It combated the ultranationalist terrorist organisation known as Kingdom - 1925 and during April when Emizerri contracted COVID-19 tightened security. The FED alongside the all-provincial High Government prepared constitutional amendments to create the process of an acting head of state, through a Regent, in times of head of state incapacitation. Governor of Boriopa (the capital of Easway) Aleksou Desourre was selected as Regent. These constitutional changes also renamed Governors to Marquis and reduced the power that governors had over the National Directorate, due to internal dispute over diverging national policy for each province and disputes over how to handle the COVID-19 pandemic. The core members of the Second National Director are hailed as defenders of good governance and committed to protecting Easwegians from the pandemic. The National Directorate was given further autonomy from the provinces (soon renamed to municipalities), whereas the provincial High Government was abolished in favour of a federal collective head of state Council on 25 May 2020.

Third National Directorate

The Third National Directorate was formed 25 May 2020 following constitutional amendment, which gave it large scopes of autonomy from other branches of government. The Mutualist High Government was renamed to the Directorial Government to reflect the leading role that both the Directory and the federal Council follows. Eichorn Bai continued in his role as Director of Essrina Health and transferred to the newly incorporated Hopen island on 27 May. The position of Senior Directorate was not continued into the Third National Directorate, though various Directors throughout acted in a similar capacity depending on their standing. Director Eichorn left to become Marquis of Hopen on 26 June. The Third National Directorate re-organised portfolios to the positions of Director for Agriculture & Community and Director for Commerce & Health in co-ordination with the federal Council during June. The Third National Directorate lasted until 1 January 2021. Notable members were:

  • Director for Essrina (later Hopen) Health, later Commerce & Health Eichorn Bai (25 May - 26 June 2020)
  • Director for Urdport Agriculture, later Agriculture & Community RawChicken (25 May 2020, serving full term)
  • Director for Boriopa CIty Commerce, later Commerce and Health Wisp (25 May 2020, serving full term)
  • Director for Hopen Community, later Agriculture & Community Algion (27 May 2020 - 26 June 2020), then Director for Hopen Commerce & Health Algion (26 June 2020, serving full term)
  • Director for Essrina Agriculture & Community Yuki (27 July 2020, serving full term), and Director for Essrina Commerce & Health Yuki (5 August 2020, serving full term)
  • Director for Boriopa City Agriculture & Community Metalli (5 August - 20 September 2020)

Tenth National Directorate

The Tenth National Directorate was formed on 25 November 2023 with Metallityöt as the 8th General Director. This cabinet represented the first time where Emizerri was not chief of state, being succeeded by Suqeruli Bai. With the retirement of the position of Regent Councillor as vice-chief of state, the General Directorate took on the responsibility of minister of foreign affairs. A key focus of the Tenth National Directorate was Easwegian irredentism, with the Central Directorate of Education and Culture under Devaade Raizerni tasked with the preparing a referendum which proposed to recognise Biarmia as Displaced Territory of Easway. This resulted in an affirmative vote for the incorporation.
