Grand Councillor

The Grand Councillor is the chief head of state of the Common Union of Easway; serving as chair of the Imperative Council, the Co-operative Government's head of state branch; and supreme commander-in-chief of the Easwegian National Guard. Elected every 6 months directly by the public, it is the highest office in Easway.

It is the oldest position in the nation, dating back to Easway's founding in 2017. As first among equals, the Grand Councillor shares voting power with the other members of the Imperative Council. The Grand Councillor is not the head of state as the entire Imperative Council is collectively head of state, so to distinguish the Grand Councillor is referred to as the chief head of state. Through this position they are seen as the unity of the Easwegian nation and the executive head of foreign affairs.

The Grand Councillor overlooks activities of the multi-party government and chairs meetings, but is not a member, of the National Directorate, Easway's head of government branch. They are also a member of the United Common Assembly, the federal legislature, but may only vote in tie-breaks.

The Imperative Council of Easway is the standing committee of the UCA and is responsible for conducting the administration of federal commissions. As chair of the ICE, the Grand Councillor is the head of the Easwegian Civil Service and chiefly responsible for pushing forth new motions into government, maintaining that conduct is in line with the Constitution, appointing servants to commissions with permission from the ICE, and communicating to and receiving relevant information from the security branches. The Grand Councillor shall review and sign off on all acts of government.
