Suqeruli Meizcherni Bai (Easwegian pronunciation: [Sytʃəɾyli Baɪ]; Turkish: Başkuruli Bey; born 1999), commonly known as Squ Bai, also known by his pseudonym of Markgraf von Eichorn, is an Easwegian founder and statesman who served as the second Grand Councillor from 25 November 2023 to 25 November 2024. Before ascending to become chief of state, Squ Bai served in the Provisional-era National Guard as Sheriff of Bear Island, thereafter serving as the first Marquis of Maritime Hopen (Pomoresia) between 26 June 2020 and 25 November 2023. Squ Bai also served as Federal Director of Healthcare and Scientific Development and later General Director throughout parts of 2023.
A moderate progressive, Squ Bai was long considered a grey eminence, holding sway within the Government whilst largely taking a backseat on the public stage. Close to his 3rd cousin Emizerri, Squ Bai agreed to help strengthen the Easwegian National Guard in late 2018, which was struggling to maintain discipline throughout the Provisional Government. He later served as Sheriff of Easway from 2019 to 2020 and various other governing positions, until his election as Marquis of Hopen (now Pomoresia) on 26 June 2020. Through this position, Squ Bai became acknowledged as Emizerri's right hand-man and continued the progressive social policies of Csyeigo, Marquis of Boriopa Centrum, by strengthening secularism and egalitarian social policies, namely the introduction of protected characteristics, programmes to help those suffering social alienation, and crackdowns on sexual harassment. A social democrat, Squ Bai petitioned the Government's rehabilitation with the West and decoupling from Russia, a nation which had just banned same-sex marriage.
Upon his election in the chief of state role of Grand Councillor in late 2023, Squ Bai has led an Easwegian revivalist administration, which includes the recognition of traditional Commonwealth territory known as Biarmia as sovereign Easway. Squ Bai has one of the longest continuous careers within the Easwegian Government and is commonly referred to as the 'Khagan of the Northeast.' Squ Bai has been involved in statecraft and defence of the realm, the establishment of new healthcare measures to combat disease and build a viable health system, and has contributed to an allied-national philosophy on foreign affairs.
Early Life
Squ Bai was born on the Turkish island of Gökçeada; Ez: Qaiversoe; in 1999 to Ezaari-Turkish parents. The island once notable for its community of Ezaari Easwegian descent, Squ Bai established the island as an Association of the Easwegian Overseas Communities near the beginning of his Grand Councillor administration in December 2023. Squ Bai is the 3rd cousin removed of paramount founder Emizerri.
Political Views
Squ Bai is a progressive and secularist, advocating for the reduction of government overreach. He believes that the separation of church and state is neccesary to stave off despotism and corruption, as well as believing Easwegian culture should be a cultural effort between the people and their assemblies, with a lot of federated power to Easway's varying communities. Squ Bai is also an avid gender-rights activist and has spoken up in support of further protections against sexual harassment both in the workplace and the everyday public. Squ Bai has also spoken up in favour of men's rights activism.
Squ believes in the benefit of regulated markets within the framework of Easway's co-operative socialist economy and is seen as as a centrist in economic affairs. He believes that there should be corporate responsibility, but that citizens should not be punished through high income taxation.
Squ has often been described as a realist and a pragmatist, especially in geopolitical affairs. A critical voice against imperialism, he has also called for the Easwegian government to recognise the threats that non-western states such as Russia or Turkey pose and was a proponent of Easway reconciling its differences with the West in order to promote democracy in the ever-hostile world. Recognising the faults of western states, he claimed they are still in terms of human rights and free expression 'miles ahead' of states such as Turkey, his birth country.
Marquis of the Pomors (2020-2023)
Squ Bai was elected as the first Marquis of the newly reincorporated autonomous municipality of Hopen on 26 June 2020. The municipality, now known as Pomoresia, has undergone various name changes, including Hopen, the Pomors, and Maritime Hopen. Marquis are members of the head of state Imperative Council and during this period, they were elected by current members of it through process of elimination, whereby each member (Emizerri, Csyeigo, Neicou, Samme vi Ezerrye) would rank proposed candidates, with one being eliminated each round. Squ Bai was strongly favoured by Csyeigo. Modulo calculations were used for the joint-tie in the second round.

Grand Councillor (2023-present)
Squ Bai took his seat as the second Grand Councillor following an oath of allegiance in the evening of 25 November 2023, succeeding Emizerri.
His first act was bestowing upon Emizerri the highest honour in the land, Champion of the Easwegian Common Union, for his 'service in leading Easway to independence and serving the nation as Grand Councillor over a course of 7 years.' This action allowed Emizerri to join the House of Zerri.
To commemorate the six year anniversary of the founding of Easway, Squ Bai received the approval of the 10th Assembly to establish Easwegian Overseas Communities, an agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs which serves as a 'forum for the promotion of Easwegian cultural involvement and development within the nations which significant Easwegian diaspora reside in.' Squ Bai also signed off on the creation of a new naval and civil flag, advocated by Grand Marshal Emizerri.
