Jack Lea is a former Quixotican conservative politician and nobleman. He was the second-ever Deputy Prime Minister of Quixotica. He served as the Quixotican Minister of National Security and the Director of the Unnamed Province in the nation's Advisory Council.
Political career
Jack's appearances in the micronational politics of future King Miles I of Quixotica were infrequent and often apathetic at best. Lea's interest in history and politics, however, kept Miles willing to include him in these efforts at establishing statehood. This is something Miles would come to regret.
Jack Lea first entered the realm of Quixotican politics on June 9, 2017, upon his being appointed Baron of Phonopotamia by King Miles I, a position was given to him for the sole purpose of expanding the Advisory Council. The name "Phonopotamia" is a portmanteau of "phonograph" and "Mesopotamia". Lea subsequently became the first person to announce his candidacy for the Premiership in the Second Advisory Council Leadership election, doing so the same day as he took office. Lea's efforts to become Prime Minister ended up being near non-existent, but he nonetheless made history as the first candidate to have a running mate in a Quixotican election. This being said, his choice of running mate was neither a member of the Council, a Quixotican citizen, nor informed of his candidacy. Jack Lea lost the election for Prime Minister on August 4 to the incredibly popular incumbent Dylan R. Light. Having fallen from grace with the Monarch, Lea was removed from office during the first-ever meeting of the Advisory Council later that same month, on August 17.
Having decided to give Lea another chance, Miles I re-opened the lines of communication with Jack on September 23. During a phone call between the King and former councillor Lea the following day, it was decided that Jack would re-enter Quixotican politics under the condition that he "give it a good try". Jack Lea was given a title of nobility as well as a new seat on the Advisory Council by King Miles I via Royal Decree on September 29, 2017. Later that same day, Miles appointed Lea as Deputy Prime Minister of Quixotica, inaugurating him outdoors in Rocky Mountain National Park. Jack's quick rise to the realm of the Advisory Council's Leadership was made under the assumption that he would serve to "represent those more conservative beliefs had by some Quixots". Lea became the Head and the only member of his own political party, the Traditionalists, on the same day he returned to the Council. He is the first partisan member of the Advisory Council Leadership in Quixotican history. Director Lea was given the honorary title of Envoy to Ireland by King Miles I on October 12, 2017.
Little communication occurred between Director Lea and the Monarch leading up to the Advisory Council Leadership Election of November 2017 and as a result, he was not reminded of his ability to seek the office of Prime Minister. In the end, Jack Lea's Council vote was merely regarded as a de facto abstention and Light was re-elected unanimously to a third term. Lea was succeeded as Deputy Prime Minister by Duchess Stephanie Eaton on November 11, 2017. To the surprise of the reigning Monarch Miles I, Lea later explained that he would have likely voted for the incumbent Dylan Light in November, implying that even if he had been reminded of the election he would not have sought the office of Prime Minister for himself.
On December 14, 2017, Director Jack Lea decided upon some of the symbols of the Unnamed Province, specifically the region's official song, dinosaur, and bird. These decisions regarding his province's symbols were made during a phone call with the reigning Monarch. Lea chose the folk song the Yellow Rose of Texas as the first cultural symbol of his constituency because it is one of his favorite musical works. Jack Lea was appointed acting Director of National Security by King Miles on December 17 in the form of a special Royal Decree. Jack ceased being the Acting National Security Director on December 28. He was informed of this all the next day by the Monarch via cellphone. When asked over the phone on December 20 whether or not he would like to run for Prime Minister in February 2018 Jack simply replied: "Let me think about it". When the position of National Security Director was officially re-branded as the Minister of National Security Miles suggested Lea for the re-named position. He was subsequently appointed Minister of National Security.
When asked over email whether or not he would like to run for the office of Prime Minister of Quixotica, Councillor Lea released an official statement saying "I don't have the will to run. If I did, however, I would probably run the country into the ground". Jack had long been assumed the incumbent Light's only potential rival on election day, but with his refusal to be a candidate another unanimous victory for Dylan was made practically inevitable. Light ended up winning re-election and established his Wool Hat Party as the first-ever majority party of the Advisory Council, incidentally making Councillor Lea even less politically influential.
Lea was informed of Light's disappearance and replacement by King Miles on March 28, 2018. He, like many members of the government, was shocked to learn that Prime Minister Light had to removed from office. Miles candidly reminded Lea that he was eligible to run in May, but that his actually being elected Prime Minister was still next to impossible.
Jack ceased being a member of the Quixotican government on April 3, 2018. The decree that re-appointed him to the Advisory Council included a clause that allowed for him to be stripped of his peerage "at any time for any reason". Lea was given the chance to retire from Quixotican politics on March 28 but refused. Upon the death of his political career, Lea's constituency, the Unnamed Province, was ceded peacefully back to the United States and his conservative political party was officially disbanded.

When Jack Lea was re-appointed to the Advisory Council by King Miles on September 29, 2017, it was under the agreement that he would remain isolated from the largely nonpartisan Council within his very own conservative political faction. When Director Lea failed to come up with a name for his new political party, Miles simply suggested the name "the Traditionalist Party" as a reference to Lea's socially conservative personal beliefs. King Miles advised Lea to make the color of the Traditionalist Party yellow in honor of the autumn season in which the party was founded. Lea became the first person to serve in the Advisory Council Leadership with a political party affiliation when he was appointed Deputy Prime Minister of Quixotica that same day. The Traditionalist Party is the ruling party of the Unnamed Province constituency, which Jack Lea represents on the Advisory Council. Lea currently serves as the party's "Head", chief representative, and sole member.
The Traditionalist Party was disbanded when Lea ceased to be involved in Quixotican politics on April 3, 2018.
