Etymology

The origins of the Republic of New York's name originated from the fictional country of the Independent Republic of New York. However, on 8 August 2022, the name was changed to the more simplified name of the Republic of New York or R.N.Y to represent unity. Even since then, the name has stayed the same there are no plans to change it again. But, there have been some proposals like changing it to the Republic of North but that became a rejected idea.

History

2022

Pre-History

Before New York's existence, multiple nations claimed the new land of New York. The modern-day republic was originally inhabited by Native Americans before being displaced by the United States of America in the 1800s. However, the New York claims of the Republic of New York were claimed by the 13 colonies

Pre-micronationalism

In April 2022, A concept of a better New York was formed, created by the multiple problems facing the city. With a series of articles, the basis of the Independent Republic of New York was formed. The Independent Republic of New York was officially Created on 16 April 2022 with an official flag, but no official territory or government.

Early Era

Liberation of current New York territories would not begin until 2022, with the territories consisting of the North Atlantic, and smaller claims from Jefferson County, which would later become Hamilton County. After this, the Republic would liberate other territories such as Sullivan County, which later became Hudson County.

Development

On 28 August, The Independent Republic of New York change its name to the Republic of New York and adopted a new flag. The idea of the Republic grew enough to eventually become an independent micronation. On 18 September 2022, the Republic of New York officially formed after the president claimed a small territory from his house and his school. It was formed with 6 citizens with the help of the Vice President. The Republic of New York eventually formed a central government with the Nafe.A as the president, and Mckennon Trottier as the Vice President. During this period of time, the country's growth was limited, it had 10 Discord server members, and no recognition from any other micronation

Period of Growth

The Republic officially formed relations with the TDC Empire and Pantonia. TDC was the first ally of the Republic of New York, which marked a growth in the Republics' history. The server member growth expanded rapidly, and the first established city was Northeast Warren, which later became the Republic of New York's capital. The Republic of New York's population went from 12 to 190 within a 1 month period. Elections began in December in order to give more representation. 4 people were elected to the R.N.Y Senate. Rapid growth continued when the Republic of New York's server reached 100 members on 26 December 2022.

The dispute of North Warren

The North Warren Dispute started on 27 November 2022 after the Goat Republic (Now the Banana Republic) Separated from the Republic of New York to create an autonomous micronation, claiming 30% of North Warren. The dispute resulted in the Woodland Wars in which the Banana Republic was weakened and kicked from the capital the conflict ended after neither side could advance. The conflict largely resulted in the Republic of New York's victory.

2023

By the beginning of 2023, the Republic of New York slowed down, yet 4 colonies were integrated into the republic. Over this time, the Republic of New York began to create its own culture and nationality, including democratically endorsed Nationalism. Over this time, the Republic of New York also gained 3 allies, those being Constitutional Polyarchy of UncleJakeyjake Island & Colonies, the Candrean empire, and a smaller micronation by the name of Faltree. There were also multiple threats by senators to start an internal conflict, yet none followed through. This timed period was dubbed the R.N.Y cold war, as no side fought. In February, the Republic of New York formed relations with the Kingdom of Salanda. In March, the Republic gained one more senator, by the name of Kwaj. The Republic of New York constitution also began to be worked on, and basic foundations have been settled, yet the entire constitution hasn't been ratified. Also during this time, the official language was created, called Yorkian, which is a combination of German, Spanish, and French

The conflict itself became frozen as the Republic of New York could not advance into the Banana Republic's capital and soon ended after 1 week.
