The Arstotzkan Federal Border and Customs Police Service is a child agency of the Arstotzkan Federal Police Service. It is the main law enforcement agency tasked with maintaining the border security of the Arstotzkan Union.

The AFBCPS was created from the reduction in the use of the People's Armed Forces in the use of border protection and better expansion of the Arstotzkan Federal Police Service after the successful prevention of a coup against the Arstotzkan Federal Government in January 2023.

Since 2024, the agency has been controlled by the Federal Immigration Bureau to monitor the border activities of the Arstotzkan Union.

History

On 22 August 2019, the issue of border control was at the forefront of issues for the new nation. In the afternoon of 22 August, President Ethan Brinkman established the National Guard of the Arstotzkan Union, which would be the main force of the National Army of the Arstotzkan Union Defense Forces. The National Guard would oversee the protection of the nations border.

On 17 September 2019, President Ethan Brinkman attempted to step up border enforcement with the creation of the Border Protection Act, which would mandate identification checks at the Arstotzkan Union border. This created an immense amount of tension in the already flaring Arstotzkan Union National Government, which made the Ministry of Defense launch a coup to end the Arstotzkan Union, which was semi-successful however it led to the Arstotzkan Wars.

The borders of the Independent Federal Republic of the Arstotzkan Union are to be open to anyone. No man shall be hindered from entering any state or territory of the Independent Federal Republic of the Arstotzkan Union, unless otherwise stated

Article 3, Section 2 of the Constitution of the Independent Federal Republic of the Arstotzkan Union

In 2020 with the end of the Arstotzkan Wars, the issue of border control was completely eradicated and a Constitutional mandate forcing a permanent open border policy was created. However as time went on, and following several damaging wars against the Arstotzkan Union, the open border policy was amended and the Arstotzkan Federal Government began to allow for regiments of the Arstotzkan Union Defense Forces and later People's Armed Forces dedicated to border protection.

In 2023, the 21st National Defense Battalion held the role for defending the borders of the Arstotzkan Union but was also tasked with international activities such as acting as the front line battalion of the 2nd Army Infantry Regiment and so in September the Executive Committee and State Committee for National Security and Intelligence created the Arstotzkan Federal Border and Customs Police Service.

Role

The AFBCPS is mainly stationed at border checkpoints with New Zealand, Australia and the United States. The duty to ensure that individuals travelling into the Arstotzkan Union are not bringing in any contraband or weapons. They are also tasked with ensuring individuals that are seen as 'threats to national security' are not entering the nation.

The service is also located at Embassies and diplomatic missions of the Arstotzkan Union, with permanent stations at the Wellington Embassy, Manawatu Embassy and Consulate General in Auckland. Plans to establish permanent stations in other countries have been approved pending the creation of other diplomatic missions.
