Alexander (born 5 August 1997) is an original founder and the current Grand Duke of Eniarku. He is the eldest son of Princess Virginia, Duchess of Palma, and her ex-husband, Alexander of Mjúkr-Danov. Prior to his accession on 29 May 2024, Alexander also served as the head of state of all previous incarnations of Eniarku, leading the country through various periods of development both domestically and within the greater MicroWiki Community.

Early life and education

Alexander was born on 5 August 1997 at Sinai Hospital in Michigan, located a short distance from Vicis, the original capital of Eniarku. His father is a member of both the House of Mjúkr (of Anglo-Saxon and French descent) and the House of Danov (of mixed Ukrainian and Russian ancestry), while his mother is a member of the House of Nölte, which is of Anglo-Saxon and Germanic origins. Shortly after the birth of his younger brother, Alexander's parents divorced.

Alexander was educated in one of the top public school districts in the U.S. state of Michigan, where he took an interest in music and student government. Alexander's interest in politics continued beyond his K-12 education into his post-secondary education, earning a baccalaureate degree in political science in 2019 and a master's degree in political science in 2022. Since leaving the academy, he continues to engage in research work and as a musician, and has noted preferences for the works of Chopin, Rachmaninoff, and Mahler.

Micronational career

Alexander began his micronational career as a founder of the original Republic of Eniarku on 29 May 2009, when he became the small nation's first and only president. His tenure as head of state has spanned across every incarnation of Eniarku: he went on to serve as the Supreme Executive Commissioner of the Democratic People's Republic of Eniarku from 15 February 2010 to 18 May 2011, Emperor of the Empire of Eniarku from 18 May 2011 to 24 October 2011, Federal President of the Eniarkian Confederation from 24 October 2011 to 8 January 2012, and King of the Kingdom of Eniarku from 5 August 2015 through the state's dormancy until he became the grand duke of the contemporary Grand Duchy of Eniarku on 29 May 2024, fifteen years after initially taking elected office.

Alexander was instrumental in the establishment of Eniarku as a reputable state within both the greater MicroWiki Community, and was the driving force behind early expansions of Eniarku's diplomatic relations, namely with the Republic of Molossia and the Empire of Austenasia. Also an influential figure in the North American sector, one of Alexander's most active periods extended from late 2010 to mid-2011, when he served as the inaugural Prime Minister of the North American Confederation, forging durable ties with prominent North American micronationalists including Wilhelm of New Europe and Joseph Marx of Ohio. Alexander has served as a guiding and stabilizing force for Eniarku, which has at times experienced prolonged periods of inactivity, and the Eniarkian people regularly express confidence and respect for the grand duke as a statesman. The grand duke resides at Baldwin House in Glenora.

Constitutional role

As a semi-constitutional monarch, Grand Duke Alexander exercises state power and near-total governing authority within the constraints of the 2024 national constitution. As such, he is obligated to appoint and convene the Council of State, which functions primarily as a privy council that advises the sovereign and assists him in carrying out his various constitutional roles; because there exists no separation of powers in the traditional sense, Alexander technically occupies different legal capacities depending on the governmental role he is fulfilling at a given time. As head of state, he serves as the commandant of the Armed Forces and Eniarku's chief diplomat. Alexander is also the founder and head of the House of Abbott, and as sovereign, the dynastic line of Eniarkian succession legally stems from him per Chapter IV of the constitution and the Law of the Grand Ducal House.

With the establishment of the grand duchy on 29 May 2024, the Honours and Titles Act of 2024 was enacted to regulate the titles of the royalty and nobility in conjunction with the Law of the Grand Ducal House and supplementary letters patent issued by Alexander.

Formal style

The monarch of Eniarku is officially titled the Grand Duke of Eniarku (or, in the event of a female sovereign or consort, the Grand Duchess of Eniarku). The titles and style of the grand duke are primarily controlled by the Law of the Grand Ducal House, which permits the use of honours historically associated with the Crown or state.

The king's domestic honours and awards granted prior to the Kingdom of Eniarku are no longer acknowledged in his official titles. As the "fount of honour" of the state, the sovereign serves as head of the nation's heraldic orders, most notably as Grand Master of the Most Noble Order of the Crown, the highest award granted in the grand duchy.

As provided for by law, the grand duke employs the greater coat of arms as his official arms: "Barry of seven Azure and Argent, Or a lion rampant armed and langued Gules; topped with the Grand Ducal Crown, cradled by a collar Argent bordered Azure bearing the medal of the Most Noble Order of the Crown; supported by two lions rampant guardant Or armed and langued Gules atop a platform Or; placed on a mantle Gules lined Ermine, topped with the Grand Ducal Crown." While the sovereign is also entitled to use his own personal arms, Grand Duke Alexander rarely makes use of this device.
