United States of Akkerman (USA) (Russian: Соединённые Штаты Аккермана) is a Bessarabian micronation with debatable level of seriousness.
"States" are commonly positioned as a joke or political simulation, however they have claimed territory together with some ideology and plans of further expansion.
Country tries to partly justify its punning name and has some similarities with United States of America. For example, it has similar flag (which was invented earlier), Congress as legislature, American style of city names and, surely, "cruel" visa regime.
Akkerman is the second micronation created by Vladislav Chokin after Vladislavia. Unlike the last one, "States" are not positioned as serious monoethnic country, haven't visa regime nor border control with outer country and don't require special conditions for citizens registration.
Etymology
This name was quickly invented because of satirical pun.
Two countries have the same abbreviations together with radical difference from each other: while US is one of the most developed countries, Bessarabia region suffers an economical and cultural devastation since USSR collapse.
An "Akkerman" name is of Turkish origin. This was the name of fortress while it was occupied by Ottoman Empire. Despite it has a lot of the other names of different origin, "Akkerman" was historically fixed as the most popular one. A town, built around the fortress, used to have the same name until 1944, when it was renamed by Stalin's order into "Belgorod-Dnestrovskiy". In actual time, an old calling is still widely used by local citizens.
Because of the variety of meanings, single word "Akkerman" unfortunately can't be used as general name of micronation.
History
"United States" were invented much earlier than they were declared. Akkerman became a micronational area when Chokin created a same-titled roleplaying entity at summer of 2017. Thereat it was a part of much bigger micronational union called "The Kickassy Confederation". Besides "USA" it used to consist of: politically central micronation "Fazezda", also known as "Senatus Populusque Fazezdae". Its culture and national identity was in glorification of RYTP and dank memes; "Kickassy Republic of Zatoka", sighted in 5 kilometers from the territory of "USA" and considered now as its future territory; and "Coach People's Republic", parody on pro-Russian entities "DNR" and "LNR". Nevertheless, this durable link of comical micronations of Odessa oblast is factually abandoned as Chokin hasn't tried to promote those micronations.
However, idea of Bessarabian micronation had remained in appearance of joke. The first step to its conversion into full-valuable micronation became on 14 November 2017, when vector version of its flag was created.
Actual idea of final foundation of USA appeared in New Year of 2018 and was completed by creation of articles in MicroWiki on 2 January.
Firstly, Vladislav Chokin declared himself a temporary Acting President to give the higher post to his grandfather in the nearest possible time. Some hours later he completed this without announcement and accordingly to his plans became a vice president, though, factually having all power in his hands.
Government and politics
US of Akkerman are a federal, presidential republic headed equally by both President and Vice President. Constitution is created, but not ratified. Political structure of new micronation stays to be unstable.
Government
Akkermanian legislature is a bicameral Congress, consisting of higher Council of Land and lower National Assembly.
The bills can be initiated by members of both houses. Higher house can accept laws without limitations, while offers from Assembly must be verified by Council.
Law
Constitution of USA is not yet created, and no courts are working. Country is located under the jurisdiction of Ukraine.
Foreign relations
USA recognize all members of the United Nations, but responsibility for recognition of disputed entities is laid on the governments of single states. Besides this, states can reject recognition of any UN member they want.
Unlike Chokin's Vladislavia, USA are able to establish diplomatic relations and even looking forward for that. Nevertheless, despite this operation can be made in every possible time, an official way of relation's foundation — by sending of real signed documents — is still appreciated.
Visas
Visa policy of the United States of Akkerman is positioned as a parody on the same policy of real USA or even fictional Arstotzka.
Visa-free regime allowing unlimited residence is made for citizens of Bulgaria, Moldova, Romania, Transnistria and Ukraine. Citizens of another countries should apply for a visa. National visas are temporary issued by federal entities or their consulates, and every entity can set up their own list of states whose citizens will be able to enter their (or common micronational) territory without a visa.
Military
Country positions itself as "neutral" and hasn't plans of big army's creation, so it limits own armed forces with so called "National Guard" created for the formal purposes.
Geography
USA claims 94.5 km2 (5%) of the Belgorod-Dnestrovskiy rayon of Odessa oblast. Also, there are some plans about claiming of near settlement Zatoka.
Climate
Belgorod-Dnestrovskiy is located in Odessa oblast, which has oceanic climate with elements of subtropic one. Local seasons are warm and long. Winter is short and mild, however some massive snowfalls are still possible: at the moment of article's writing, the most serious one was on 30 December 2014.

Flora and fauna
Locality is almost completely filled by steppes or wheat fields. Shabo village, sighted in the same-titled state, is full of vineyards of citizens and local winery "Shabo". State "Suholuzhje" contains enormous swaps filled with bulrush.
Fauna is relatively poor. It consists of some steppe animals like hamsters, hares and hedgehogs. At the territory of Belgorod-Dnestrovskiy the wild pigeons (exact species are unknown) are frequently appear. Local firth is almost fishless due to frequent poisoning and general pollution of the bottom. Previously, a firth's water was full of gobies and сrucian carp.
Administrative divisions
All territory of Akkerman is divided at 9 states. They are partly autonomous, have own power, emblem and flag. Also they can set a preferred language as official one. Each state is able to send 5 representatives to National Assembly.
States and cities are formally haven't equal rights of autonomy, but actually they are. Main reason is in decentralised power, which is a typical problem of many micronations. An only difference between two types of settlements is that regular cities haven't own flags — they use the state ones.
Demographics
At this moment, USA has only 5 citizens. Two of them live in New Whiteyard. Country hasn't special requirements for citizenship, so it can issue this status without problems.
Total population of claimed territory is about 80 000 persons.
National minorities and languages
Bessarabian territory is known by big diversity of local ethnic groups. In Akkerman, though, it isn't very notable as biggest part of population speaks Russian. However, the territory of USA has enormous Bulgarian diaspora.
Country includes all possible minor languages into the official ones, even abandoned Moldovan Cyrillic alphabet is used. Every city of USA can set up its own official languages.
Religion
USA is secular state. An only overwhelming religion in locality is Orthodoxy.
