Sonia I (Sonia Mateus Ferreira, 21 September 1975), is a head of state and Duchess Regnant of Mecklewmburg-Wladir since July 2024, after being installed by her daughter, Maria I,as monarch to the country.

Biography

She is the eldest daughter of the late Baron and the current Dowager Baroness Ferreira. Sonia was born in the city of Barão de Cocais, in the former residence of the Barons. In the late 1990s she met and married the Duke of Flaviano, and with him she had a daughter, Queen Maria I, who now occupies the Sildavian throne. The couple broke up shortly after the birth of the current queen. The countess also has two more children from previous relationships, Princess Gabriela and Prince Gabriel, who currently ranks as the first two in the line of succession to the Sildavian throne. In 2016 the countess remarried.

After her daughter's accession to the throne, she was given the title of Countess of Koniktz. Due to the death of her father the Baron Ferreira, in 2021, and in accordance with the law of absolute primogeniture of the nobility of Sildavia, she as eldest daughter inherited her father's Barony. After the Union between Sildavia and Borduria she was striped of her county and created Duchess of Muskar by the Queen.

Armorials

During her marriage to the Duke of Flaviano, Sonia was styled as "Her Serene Highness The Duchess of Flaviano". During her marriage, Sonia used the arms of the duke impaled (side by side) with those of her parents. Sonia's coat of arms before her marriage was based on the Mateus-Ferreira coat of arms. It depicted a lozenge shaped shield of arms, which symbolised her unmarried state. This version was used only before her marriage and is also applied by her sisters. As holder of the status of "Royal Highness" and "Princess of Sildavia and Borduria" she used the escutcheon of Sildavia together with those of her husband, 1st Baronet Silva. After being installed as Duchess of Mëcklewnburg-Wladir she uses the national coat of arms, with those of her family.
