The 10th Elysiumite senatorial election occurred on October 18, 2020, exactly three months after the last election. The last election resulting in a Progressive majority and Adam Johnston being made Prime Minister.
The previous election was the first to occur after the New Elysium Party, effectively the only party in Elysium when it was around, had dissolved. Following the vacuum left by the NEP dissolving the Progressive Party was remade along side the Democratic Traditionalist, two former major parties.
This election was also the first election following the dissolution of the Evolutionary Party, which used to be the Opposition Party. Following its dissolution many of its members joined the Democratic Traditionalist. Finally this election saw the participation of two new parties the Rhinoceros Party, a satirical part made by Baddie, and the Ticronvidia First Party, a Ticronvidia Nationalist party made by Nicholas Lokin.
Campaigns

The Progressive Party began its nominating process on the eighth of September. Adam Johnston announces his attention to seek re-nomination, he was soon endorsed by Robert Smith. Xavier Jackson considered running by decided to endorse Adam Johnston instead, caucusing the nominating process to be unopposed.
Soon after the nominating process Adam Johnston received endorsements from the following individuals
- Kyle Smith: Senator, former Chancellor, and second most popular politician in Elysium
- Seán Dadga: Senator, former leader of the Communist Party
- Sir Spooky: Speaker, Senator, and Governor
As for other campaigns, Robert Smith endorsed every Progressive running for a regional seat and campaigned for many. The Party in particular went after the Ticronvidia First Party calling their leader Nicholas Lokin corrupt and incompetent for his record within Elysium and outside of it, among other attacks. Less than two hours before polls opened the party released its last poster attacking Nicholas for a moment he had in the debate in which Nicholas admitted he had not read the Elysium Constitution.
Democratic Traditionalist
The Democratic Traditionalist originally sought to give Kyle Smith the nomination for the party, but Kyle Smith made an upset when he turned down the nomination and joined the Progressive Party.
Following this the party kept Johannes Tyurukstein, governor of Ticronvidia, as their candidate for Prime Minister. The party didn’t run anyone for regional seats. The party didn’t largely campaign, but notable conservative Friedrich’s attacks of Chancellor Smith are thought to have helped the party.
Other Parties
The Rhinoceros Party nominated Baddie to be the first party leader due to his status as founder of the party. Johann Kümmel, a member of the party, ran for Ticronvidia 1st and received an endorsement from Robert Smith due to his status has one of the least satirical members of the party. Johann Kümmel also helped the Progressive Party campaign against the Ticronvidia First Party. The party also received an endorsement from Justice Prinz.
The Liberal Party surprising chose not to run in this election, but made a caucus with the Progressive Party and thus their leader James Christian was given a seat in the Elysium Senate by the party.
The Yedinist Party decides to focus all of getting a MPP seat instead of holding Ticronvidia 1st, this strategy worked and their leader Zech O’Hair got back into the Senate.
The Ticronvidia First Party debated with Progressive leadership in order to try to refute their claims, but this does not seem to have worked due to the Party only getting around 2% of the vote making them the only party which participated not to win a seat.
Independent Campaign for Clamatoa 2nd
Clamatoa 2nd was the only District that an independent ran in. NeverthelesS ran as an independent uncontested, although Adam Johnston directed distaste at him and his campaign.
Results
Speaker Election
Following the election, the speaker election where called the day after the senate was sworn in. Incumbent Sir Spooky reran and Thomas Bainbridge also ran. There was no debate between the two and neither commented on a reason their fellow Senators should vote for them. One Senator, Xia, abstained from voting between the two.
