Micronational career

Early Micronational Career

James Bornstein began his micronational career as the Augustus Secretary of Ryanlandia in 2016. He has also served as the Governor of Kassinovia in Ryanlandia. He then went on to serve as the General Secretary and Acting First Secretary for just one week.

Following the dissolution of Ryanlandia in 2017, Bornstein founded "This Table" (TT), later renamed to the Formositan Empire. Due to it being the school community’s property, he justified it as his own. He served as Emperor for two years before the state dissolved.

Return to Micronationalism

Bornstein took a several month long hiatus until 10 June 2020, when he joined the MicroWiki sector. He founded Desert District in North America, bordering California in the United States. He then served as First Secretary.

Bornstein subsequently established the Democratic Socialist Coalition of Desert District.

On 28 June 2020, Bornstein announced his resignation from his position as First Secretary and the official Desert District server owner, handing the latter to Lee Bastino who subsequently was elected First Secretary. He remained active in the nation as a Legislative Body member, and eventually returned to the position following Bastino's resignation.

Personal life

Bornstein was born in 2006 in the United States, and currently resides in Desert District's capital.

He has identified as socially progressive since he was 10 years old, when his interest in politics and micronationalism began.

He credits US Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Sen. Edward Markey, and Sen. Bernard for fueling his interest in politics. He supports the Democratic Party when it comes to US politics, identifying as a member of the party's progressive faction. He supports Medicare for All, free higher education, and the Green New Deal. His favorite news source is the New York Times.

His favorite hobbies are micronationalism, water tasting, and craft coffee making, specifically with a Chemex or an AeroPress.
