The Republic of Åxenö, or commonly known as Åxenö, was a small Micronation on the Åland Islands in Finland. Åxenö borders Jurassicland in the south and the Marius Empire in the north. Åxenö controlled 0.3 square kilometer of territory and had a population of 18. Åxenös capital and financial centre was Börkö. Åxenö had two official languages English and Swedish. Åxenö had one port in the south.

Åxenö was founded in 2020 by Axel Himberg. Later Marius Åkerblom would become Prime Minister. The capital Börkö was decided to be the capital in 2020. At the end of 2021 Åxenö and Dionoland (now Jurassicland) had a dispute about a pile of gravel which turned into the gravel war. On the 8 May 2022 Åxenö declared war on Papaland, a terrorist organazation fighting in the Dionoland Papaland war. Later in July, Åxenö would invade but failed to take Dionolands capital and gravel. On the 26 March 2023 Mariuslandiko (now the Marius Empire) was founded and Åxenö on the same day recognized the Marius Empire. In May Himberg decided to form the New Russian Empire but later decided to bring back Åxenö. On the 27 March Åxenö wrote its constitution and founded its first bank "Börkö Central Bank". Åxenös economy would crash in May 2023. Also in May 2023, Åxenö and the Marius Empire would form the Långgrunds Defence Pact. In August 2023, Åxenö would expand to have a coastline. Rapid expansion in August 2023 would cause a economic boom. Åxenö would also be involved in a proxy war with Jurassicland in 2023. Himberg would dissolve Åxenö on 7 November and form the French Republic.

Etymology

The name Åxenö comes from the founders name, Axel Himberg, combined with the name Ålandia or the Åland Islands. The ö at the end is from the Swedish language that means island, as Åxenö is on the Åland Islands. Himberg combined his first name, Ålandia and ö to form the name Åxenö. The name Åxenö was adopted in August 2020.

History

Establishment

In 2020 Axel Himberg declared independance and founded Åxenö. About a month later Himberg appointed Marius Åkerblom as the Prime Minister to give ideas to what to add to the country. The laws were also written around this time. When Dionoland was founded around the same time, relations were made over shipment of gravel. Åxenö claimed a small amount of territory in Finström on Åland.

The first law was the Enviromental act where all nature in the country would be under protection by the government. The Enviromental act was originaly proposed by Åkerblom and was accepted by Himberg. The second law was that no one who was not in the Åxenöan government would be allowed to enter government buildings. The third law was that a passport was not needed to enter Åxenö. Around this time Börkö was founded.

Himberg would also come up with flag designs for Åxenö and would later chose the Green, White and Black flag. The flag originaly had brown instead of black.

Infrastructure Project

In the beginig of 2021 Åxenö constructed its capitol building but it woulld collapse 2 years later. The capitol building was built to make descions in parliment and governmnet. Many laws where decided in the capitol.

Himberg also began planning the locations of roads to connect the capitol building to the park. About 2 months later Börkö was founded as their capital and extended the planned road to the capital. The first road conecting the park and Börkö began construction in 2021 and was finished in 2022. A second road was also built in 2022.

The infrastructure project was never completed as many roads where planned to be built but where not. A central highway was planned and a ferry was planned to go across the lake. None of this happened in the end. The plan had been to continue construction into 2023 and complete construction in 2024. A military base was built in 2022 for defence and because the Dionoland Papaland war was going on at this time.

Gravel War

At the end of 2021 Åxenö had a dispute with Dionoland about its gravel shipments. Åxenö wanted to build a gravel road throught the capital, Dionoland decided to stop exporting gravel. Eventually Åxenö blockaded all trade. After Åxenö invaded small amounts of territory near Dinolands capital. Dionoland would cut relations with Åxenö after Åxenö refused to withdraw. The crisis continued to escalate close to a conflict between Dionoland and Åxenö. Åxenö would send troops to its border with Dionoland. Dionoland would do the same. Åxenö would occupy the pile of Gravel. This sparked a one day war.

Åxenö and Dionoland forces would clash at the pile of gravel and Dionoland capital. Åxenö would withdraw but fighting would continue. Åxenö would occupy the pile of gravel once more. After a couple of minutes Dionoland retook the pile of gravel. Fighting would end by the night. In the morning no peace was decleared but no fighting would happen. No peace deal was ever signed as the Marius Empire would take over Dionoland in 2023 before any peace deal would be signed.

Dionoland Papaland War

On the 8 May 2022 the Dionoland civil war started between Dinoland and Papaland. Åxenö decided to stop Papaland, Åxenö helped Dionoland build fortifications. Åxenö would export weapons to Dionoland to stop Papaland. On the 9 May Åxenö got into a battle with Dionoland but in the end it was not significant. Papaland would mine a small lake which Åxenö had military ships in. Åxenö would join the war in September 2022 after Papaland invaded. Åxenö and Dionoland would annex Papaland.

Invasion of Wilmerland

2 months later in July Åxenö launched a large scale invasion of Wilmerland (now Jurassicland and that was previously Dionoland). First Åxenö pushed to the south of Wilmerland and to the north of Wilmerland capturing the capital. Åxenö commensed GM-Day were they landed troops south of Wilmerlands second largest settlement. In the end the operation was a fail as Wilmerland held its ground and even pushed into Åxenö for a couple of hours.

Covid-19 Pandemic

Åxenö would have 2 cases of Covid during the pandemic, one in 2022 and 2023. Åxenö would lockdown and stop all exports and imports. And new Covid policies where inacted to stop the spread of Covid-19. Åxenö would close its borders in April 2023. There where 0 Covid deaths in Åxenö during the pandemic. Åxenö would also impose travel bans and restrictions. During this time the Marius Empire would be founded during the May 2023 Covid outbreak.

At the begining of May Åxenö would open its borders once more.

Imperial Russian Era

After the pandemic Himberg would change Åxenö to the New Russian Empire. Himberg would crown himself as the tsar of the New Russian Empire. During this era the New Russian Empire would greatly expand. During this time msot of the gdp went to the military and so did the research. During this time a plan was made to invade Jurassicland with the Marius Empire. The Marius Empire do would invade Jurassicland before the New Russian Empire had time to. Eventually Himberg decided to go back to Åxenö and became president.

Economic Growth

On the 26 March 2023 Åxenö founded its first bank "Börkö Central Bank" and its first store "Börkö Market". The economy grew by €30.80. Economic growth was supported by Mariuslandiko (now the Marius Empire) who had just been founded and began importing rescources from Åxenö. There where also many imports from Mariuslandiko as well as Jurassicland.

Economic Crash

In May 2023, Åxenös economy crashed. Åxenös economy crashed as tons of resources where being exported from Mariuslandiko and to supply the demmand the market was flooded with money. This caused high inflation and an economic crisis. As food and real estate prices crashed. Since Mariuslandikos economy was connected to Åxenös, their economy crashed aswell. After the economic crash Åxenös stock market crashed aswell causing a housing crisis. In June 2023, Åxenös economy would recover.

Rapid Expansion

Åxenö would annex the occupied territory from Jurassicland, as Jurassicland had been invaded and occupied by the Marius Empire in May 2023. Åxenö would expand into surronding territories in April. Åxenö would expand farther out and would reach water in August 2023. Åxenö thus got its first proper port. Åxenös population would increase by about 20 people. Åxenö would expand into many areas around it. The rapid expansion caused and economic boom making Åxenö have a large gdp (ppp). Åxenö would also found its second city, Sugg with a population of 6.

During this period the Presidential Act of 2023 was signed that only allowed presidents to stay in office for 1 year compared to the previous 3 years.

2023 Presidential Election

The 2023 Election was supposed to happen on 10 September 2023 but Åkerblom became sick. In the lead up to the election, 2 days before the election on 18 September 2023, Himberg would repeal the Enviorment act without getting permission from the parliment. After this Himberg did ask parliment but Åkerblom was not invited. After this on 25 September Himberg announced that that the election would be held on 1 November to "get ready for the election". Himberg would state that any attack on Finland, Åland or Åxenö by a jihadest or palestinean terrorist would spark a war on Åxenö. Himberg also stated that the war would be a war on terrorism. The election would not take place.

Proxy War

After the defeat of Papaland Åxenö would begin a proxy war against Jurassicland. The proxy war would take off in October 2023 after president Himberg stated Åxenö began setting up proxies in areas such as Källbo school in Godby.

Dissolution

Himberg would on 7 November dissolve Åxenö and begin to establish the French Republic.

Geography

Åxenö was rocky and mossy in the east but in the west there was a large forest and a beach. Åxenös highest point was 30m above sea level. Åxenö was located at Bamböle, Åland. Åxenö contolled 0.3 square kilometers of territory. Åxenö had one beach. Most of Åxenö was forest, about 60%. Åxenö owned only one island called Notgrund. Notgrund was the only forest. Åxenös coast was to the east while most of the forest was more west.

Biodiversity

Åxenö had mostly birds living there. There where many tipes of insects like Glanville fritillary butterfly. Åxenö also has many Deer. The enviormental act is to protect the nature in Åxenö and also includes animals. There are not many large animals that live in Åxenö but there are many insects. There are about 1000 species of Ants for example. There are also some Elk.

Climate

Åxenö had a humid continental climate (Dfb) that was influenced by its maritime position. During June to August in Åxenö it was very hot and during December to March it was very cold.

Åxenö was federal presidential republic. Åxenö was made up of 5 districts. All 5 districts had their own government. The district government elected every 3 years which governer they would have. The governer of the districts had to listen to the president of Åxenö and the prime minister of Åxenö. The governers had some power over their districts. The governers only have power over for example speed limits and permits for housing and such.

There where 3 branches of government in Åxenö, which where hedquartered in Börkö. The 3 branches of government are:

The Åxenöan President who was also the commander of military and police. The president could also choose his cabinet in parliment. The president could also decleare foreign relations with other countries or micronations. The president also had control of public services and such. The parliment could overide several of the presidents decisions.

Åxenöan parliment was a bicameral legislature that could veto the presidents decleration of war, decleration of an alliance or trade deals so long half of the parliment votes so. Parliment decided laws and regulations for the entire country. The parliment also accept treaties of war and such. The parliment was voted by the population of Åxenö. The parlimentary political parties decide what candidate they want in parliment.

Åxenöan Supreme Court controled and regulates laws and can overide the presidents laws unlike parliment. Parliment voted the judge of the Åxenöan court. The Åxenöan court controled smaller courts and such. The prime minister had the most controll over the court. The prime minister was also the judge for the court.

The president used to serve a 3 year term but with the 2023 presidential act, presidents could only serve for a 1 year term. The president could run for president how many times they wanted. The president was elected directly by the population of Åxenö rather than the parliment or court. The court did not have elections rather the prime minister takes the seat when they are elected as prime minister. The parliment was elected by political parties in parliment who choose who should be their representative.

Foreign relations

Åxenö was recognised by 2 other micronation, the Marius Empire and Jurassicland. Both had borders with Åxenö. Åxenö and the Marius Empire had formed the Långgrunds Defence Pact with eactother. Åxenö did not have many foreign relations with other micronations. Åxenö also recognised all United Nations members. Åxenö also recognised all seperatist nations for example South Ossetia. Åxenö also had a trade agreement with the Marius Empire. Åxenö had also leased land to the Marius Empire for a military base. Åxenö did not have many relations with other micronations.

Military

Åxenö had a high military spending, mainly on weapon imports. Åxenös military had about a military spending of €500 per month. Åxenö focused on its military as a very important part of the nation. Abot 10% of Åxenös budget went to the ground forces 5% to the navy and 2% to the air force. Funding to the military increased every year by atleast 2%.

The Åxenö Defense forces had 3 soldiers and mainly use small explsoives and small firearms, Small trasnport vehicles and Sea landing craft are also used, aswell as 2 armoured vehicles .The Åxenö military only has 2 regiments, the 1st and 2nd Åxenöan Regiments. Åxenö also has the 1st Börkö Sea Regiment. There is also a paramilitary organazation called the MADF that operates outside the borders of Åxenö.

Economy

Åxenös economy was mainly built of exports. Åxenö was planning to export lumber to Jurassicland. They also had a huge tourism economy. Åxenös economy was relitavely large but does not have much to export but did export lumber and food. Åxenö also had a large fishing industry with about 2 people who live in Åxeno owning a fishing boat and most people owning a fishing rod.

In August 2023 Åxenös economy boomed causing its economy to grow rapidly. The economy would grow by over €10,000 in mid August. Åxenös economy is projected to continue growing but slower. Smaller micronations around rely on Åxenös exports to survive. Åxenös only has 1 bank, Börkö Central Bank.

Imports

Most of Åxenös food supply came from the blue berry district where they collect blue berries. Some of Åxenös food came Finland. Åxenö also imported lumber and gravel from the Marius Empire and Jurassicland.

Exports

Åxenö mainly exported lumber and food to Jurassicland and the Marius Empire. Åxenö had a large fishing industry which meant fish was one of their biggest exports.

Culture

Åxenös culture was a mix of weastern culture and Swedish culture as of its geographical position. For example Åxenö celebrated Christmas and New years but Åxenö is not christian.

Flag

Åxenö had 2 flags. The original flag had a light green until May 2023 when it was changed to dark green. The green on the flag symbolises the military, the white symbolises peace and the black is Himbergs favourite colour. The star represents how many unions are in Åxenö. If another micronation where to join then another star would be added. Åxenö had a different flag during the imperial russian era.
