History of Åxenö

The Republic of Åxenö was founded in 2020 by Axel Himberg. Later Marius Åkerblom would become Prime Minister. The capital Börkö was founded in 2021. At the end of 2021 Åxenö and Dionoland (now Jurassicland) had a dispute about a pile of gravel. On the 8 May 2022 Åxenö declared war on Papaland, a terrorist organazation fighting in the Dionoland Papaland war. Later in July Åxenö would invade but failed to take Dionolands capital. On the 26 March 2023 Mariuslandiko was founded and Åxenö on the same day recognized the Marius Empire. In May Himberg decided to form the New Russian Empire but later decided to bring back Åxenö. On the 27 March Åxenö wrote its constitution and founded its first bank "Börkö Central Bank". Åxenös economy would crash in May 2023. Also in May 2023, Åxenö and the Marius Empire would form the Långgrunds Defence Pact. In August 2023, Åxenö would expand to have a coastline. Rapid expansion in August 2023 would cause a economic boom. A proxy war would begin in 2023 between Åxenö and Jurassicland. Himber would dissolve Åxenö on 7 November and form the French Republic.

History

In July 2020, Axel Himberg would decleare independance from Finland. Himberg would annex parts of Börkö. Himberg also gave the name Börkö to the settlement. Himberg would found Börkö park in the capital which became a popular tourist attraction. Many people would visit Åxenö. Himberg would decide some laws about how Åxenö operates. Himberg would also found the Åxenöan Central Party in 2020.

Political integration and develpment

About a month after, Himberg would found the parliment and appoint Marius Åkerblom as the prime minister of Åxenö. Himberg decided that the prime ministers job was to give ideas to the president who could accept them or deny them. The capitol building was built to make descions in parliment and governmnet. Many laws where decided in the capitol. The first law was the Enviromental act where all nature in the country would be under protection by the government. The Enviromental act was originaly proposed by Åkerblom and was accepted by Himberg. The second law was that no one who was not in the Åxenöan government would be allowed to enter government buildings. The third law was that a passport was not needed to enter Åxenö. The enviormental act was a fundemental law of Åxenö and would set the bases for every other law in Åxenö.

Other laws where also being decided in 2020. Himberg in 2020 would also make several designes for the flag. Himberg chose the green-white-brown (the flag would e changed in 2021 to be black instead of brown) flag with a star in the middle to represent all the unions in the nation. In August 2020 the capitol building (or the parliment) was chosen. In 2021 another micronation called Dionoland would be founded. Åxenö set up relations with Dionoland and recognised them as independent. Åxenö began importing gravel from Dionoland.

Infastructure Project

Himberg began planning the locations of roads to connect the capitol building to Börkö park. Åxenö was going to use gravel from Dionoland. A road was also planned to go to the capital. The first road conecting the park and Börkö began construction. The infrastructure project was never completed as many roads where planned to be built but where not. A central highway was planned and a ferry was planned to go across the lake. None of this happened in the end. The infastructure project started to become a crisis between Åxenö and Dionoland.

The Long War Era

Gravel War

At the end of 2021 Åxenö had a dispute with Dionoland about its gravel shipments. Åxenö wanted to build a gravel road throught the capital, Dionoland decided to stop exporting gravel. Eventually Åxenö blockaded all trade. After Åxenö invaded small amounts of territory near Dinolands capital. Dionoland would cut relations with Åxenö after Åxenö refused to withdraw. The crisis continued to escalate close to a conflict between Dionoland and Åxenö. Åxenö would send troops to its border with Dionoland. Dionoland would do the same. Åxenö would occupy the pile of Gravel. This sparked a one day war.

Åxenö and Dionoland forces would clash at the pile of gravel and Dionoland capital. Åxenö would withdraw but fighting would continue. Åxenö would occupy the pile of gravel once more. After a couple of minutes Dionoland retook the pile of gravel. Clashes would continue for hours. Dionoland would fire artillery into Åxenö. Åxenö would be able to hold some occupied territpry near Dionoland capital. Fighting would end by the night. In the morning no peace was decleared but no fighting would happen. In the end relation where re established but Åxenö would still occupy some territory near Dionolands capital.

Dionoland Papaland war involment

Åxenö would give Dionoland military support, wich helped with making fortifications. The fortifications consists of 2 heavy S1-12HMG machine guns and two 200 mm cannons, there where also several extra MG nests if needed. There is also a secondary cannon behind the fortification on Godzilla Mountain. There are several roads conecting the fortifications. There are several bombs in the water placed by Åxenö. There are about 3–5 meters of digedout trenches. The main area of the fortification line is about 5–7 meters. Åxenö joind when the 1st Börkö Sea Regiment, icluding at first the SMS Börkö, wich was put in the water before the war began. On 9 May Dionoland and Åxenö fighted eachother after Dionoland had fired artillery at Åxenö. Åxenö responded with machine gun fire. This battle was not significant. Papaland would attack into Åxenö which dragged Åxenö into the war. Papaland would occupy lots of territory from Dionoland and Åxenö. Dionoland would launch a huge counteroffenisve on 15 September with Åxenö. They quickly retook most of their territory. Papaland at the end of September 15 surrendered to Dionoland and Åxenö. After the war, Dionoland and Åxenö would annex Papaland. Dionoland and Åxenö would both get half.

Invasion of Wilmerland

Even with good relation with Wilmerland (previously Dionoland and now Jurassicland) a war was bound to happen. The Gravle War that had happened before the Invasion was one factor to Åxenö invading. Åxenö needed gravel to complete the infastructure project. And right before the war the president of Wilmerland, Wilmer Himberg had illegaly entered Åxenö which sparked the war. Åxenö forces would cross in and take key points. The paramilitary orginasation, MADF would support Åxenö in the invasion. Åxenö forces would fight for control of the capital. Some Åxenö forces hedead twoards a pile of gravel put met heavy resistance. To capture the pile of gravel, Åxenö commensed GM-Day. On GM-Day Åxenö forces landed on the beaches of Wilmerland and stormed forward, they almost tok it untill Wilmerland forces entered Åxenö. Wilmerland forces would attack into Åxenö almost taking the capital, Börkö. After hours of fighting, Åxenö forces would push out Wilmerland. Wilmerlands capital battle would finnaly end after Wilmerland forces pulled out. Åxenö forces would withdraw by the end of the day and the war would end. Åxenö would not gain or lose any occupied territory in the war.

Covid-19 Pandemic

Åxenö would have 2 cases of Covid during the pandemic, one in 2022 and 2023. Åxenö would lockdown and stop all exports and imports. And new Covid policies where inacted to stop the spread of Covid-19. Åxenö would close its borders in April 2023. There where 0 Covid deaths in Åxenö during the pandemic. Åxenö would also impose travel bans and restrictions. During this time the Republic of Mariuslandiko (now the Marius Empire) would gain independance and relations between Åxenö and Mariuslandiko where set up including trade deals.

At the begining of May Åxenö would open its borders once more. The Covid-19 pandemic was not a significant moment in Åxenös history but it did aid in the economic crisis.

Imperial Russian Era

After the pandemic Himberg would change Åxenö to the New Russian Empire. Himberg would crown himself as the tsar of the New Russian Empire. During this era the New Russian Empire would greatly expand and occupying several areas. During this time msot of the gdp went to the military and so did the research. The military would begin to prepeare for a potential invasion of Jurassicland. Himberg would begin to plan an invasion of Jurassicland with the Marius Empire. The New Russian Empire began to make propaganda about invading Jurassicland. Tons of military equipment was put next to the border. A week before the New Russian Empire was to invade, the Marius Empire would invade and occupy most of Jurassicland canceling the invasion. Eventually Himberg decided to end the New Russian Empire and changed back to Åxenö.

Economical Era

On the 26 March 2023 Åxenö founded its first bank "Börkö Central Bank" and its first store "Börkö Market". The economy grew by €30.80. Economic growth was supported by Mariuslandiko (now the Marius Empire) who had just been founded and began importing rescources from Åxenö. There where also many imports from Mariuslandiko as well as Jurassicland. In early April 2023, Åxenö was exporting many resources including gravel, lumber and food. This would leave Åxenö with low amounts of resources and a lot of money. On 20 April Åxenös economy would crash. The immediate effects where high food prices. Food prices would double in value on the first day. The next day food prices had tripled. A real estate crisis began ass there was to much money in Åxenö. Real estate costed double its original price by the end of the day. Börkö Central Bank (Åxenös only bank) almost went bankrupt. Börkö Central Bank closed for a week. The crisis was aided by the Covid-19 pandemic which made the crisis worse in many ways. The effects where also felt in Mariuslandiko. As Mariuslandiko relied on Åxenö for resources but Åxenö had stoped exports. Mariuslandikos economy crashed aswell. After the economic crisis it would take a month for Åxenö and Mariuslandiko to recover. after a couple of months Åxenös economy started to grow once more. Mariuslandikos banks reopened and the same in Åxenö.

Territorial expansion

Åxenö would annex the occupied territory from Jurassicland, as Jurassicland had been invaded and occupied by the Marius Empire in May 2023. Åxenö would expand into surronding territories in April. Åxenö would expand farther out and would reach water in August 2023. Åxenö thus got its first proper port. Åxenös population would increase by about 20 people. Åxenö would expand into many areas around it. Åxenö would also get its second city, Sugg with a population of 6. The rapid expansion caused and economic boom making Åxenö have a large gdp (ppp). Åxenö and the Marius Empire would sign the Långgrunds Defence Pact.

2023 Presidential election controversy

During this period the Presidential Act of 2023 was signed that only allowed presidents to stay in office for 1 year compared to the previous 3 years. This meant that the first election would take place on 10 September but the prime minister Åkerblom was sick. The elction will happen on 20 September 2023 if Åkerblom or Himberg are not sick. Åkerblom would recover on 18 September. The contoversy began when the incubent president, Himberg, repealed the Enviormental act without the permission from parliment. Himberg would after ask parliment and have a meeting about it. Åkerblom and the Marius party where not told about the meeting or invited. The parliment voted yes in repealing the enviormental act. On 25 September Himberg would announce that the election would be pushed back to "prepare" and "get ready" for the election and that the election would be held on 1 November. Himberg would state that any attack on Finland, Åland or Åxenö by a jihadest or palestinean terrorist would spark a war on Åxenö. Himberg also stated that the war would be a war on terrorism. He stated this on 18 October as a response the 2023 Isreal Hamas War.

Proxy War

The Åxenö-Jurassicland proxy conflict is a proxy war between Åxenö and Jurassicland. The proxy conflict began after the defeat of Papaland in the Jurassicland Civil War. Both sides main goal is to spread their influence around Åland, mainly in the Godby area where both sides have set up proxies. Many clashes funded by both sides would take place between the proxies in the Källbo Insurgency.
