The Princesses of Lomellina also refered as Dames de Lomellina is the female political institution in the Principality of Lomellina. It was founded by Princess Giulia after marrying Simone I da Lomellini, prince of Lomellina born in 1240. The princesses always had theoretically the same power as the princes and the same titles, currently the princess of Lomellina is D. Tânya Correa D'Ornellas, consort of D. Guilherme I.
History
The Lomellini family
The title of Princess was implemented circa 1240 with the birth of Princess Giulia consort of Simone I da Lomellini. Their marriage was arranged when they were just new-borns and that's why the date of foundation is the same as their birthdate. Later on, the list of princesses grown altough some of their names were lost in history and cannot be found with the simple explanation that princes didn't allowed their registry most of the times.
Their registry was only mandatory in the reign of Bartolomeo IV Lomellini, the most beloved spouse to his consort of Lomellina.
Re-foundation as a principality
Currently the princess title is assigned to D. Tânya Correa D'Ornellas consort of the current prince, she has the same titles as her spouse, thus being Princess of Lomellina, Duchess of Scandia Colles, Duchess of Acidalia Planitia and Countess of Ross.
