The President of the Continental Congress, commonly the Continental President, was the head of state and head of government in the United Federation of Aumarea prior to the ratification of the Constitution of Aumarea. The office also chaired the Continental Congress of Aumarea - leading both the executive and legislative branches of government simultaneously.
History
The continental presidency was the oldest office in the federation at the time of its dissolution. The office was established on 6 March 2023 but was dissolved on 12 March 2023 after the ratification of the constitution.
Duties
The duties of the continental president included:
- Guiding the Legislative Process
- Calling and Dissolving Congress
- Overseeing Constitutional Development
- Maintaining Order in the Continental Congress
- Running the Continental Government
Appointment
The presidency of the continental congress was similar to that of a Prime Minister in the sense that it relied on the support of the legislature. The presidency was elected and appointed, along with the continental vice presidency, by the continental congress. The president served at the pleasure of the legislature, having no fixed term length, and relied on the body's confidence to remain in office.
