The Continental Congress of the United Federation, commonly the Continental Congress, Continental Congress of Aumarea or the UF Continental Congress, was the legislature of the United Federation of Aumarea prior to the ratification of the Constitution of Aumarea. The body was established on 3 March 2023. It was succeed by the Congress of the United Federation. The continental congress has been dissolved since 12 March 2023.
The body commissioned and primarily oversaw the development of the Constitution of Aumarea.
History
The continental congress was established on 3 March 2023 with the primary focus of writing and adopting the Constitution of Aumarea. After the body was did this, it dissolved. The constitution was adopted on 12 March 2023, with the constitution being dissolved upon its ratification.
Role
The primary role, duties and powers of the congress included:
- Acting as the Primary Federal Legislature
- Creating the Constitution
- Electing the President
- Registering Political Parties
- Granting Citizenship
Membership
Members of the Continental Congress, known as Continental Congressmen, were elected by the fist past the post electoral system. In exceptional circumstances the Continental President could appoint members. The continental congress had a total of 15 seats, including the presidency and vice presidency.
At its peak it had 2 active members - Congressional President Luke Knight and Congressional Vice President Jacob Nicholson (who later resigned the vice presidency and renounced citizenship after the constitution was ratified).
Leadership
The continental congress was overseen by the President of the Continental Congress, whom also served as head of state and head of government as well as congressional chairman. They were assisted by a vice president. The president was elected by the continental congress and served at its pleasure.
