The Order of New Virginian Independence is the oldest (and, at present, the only) order of chivalry of the Commonwealth of New Virginia. Established on 14 February 2020 by a resolution of the Provisional Council, the Order exists to honour the individuals who coordinated the secession of New Virginia from the Empire of Austenasia and who have contributed to the development of the Commonwealth under the provisional government. The Order is led by the Chairman of the Provisional Council, who is ex officio the patron of the Order.
The Order only has one grade of precedence, that of Knight or Dame. Knights or Dames of the Order are entitled to the use of the style of "Sir" or "Dame" and the postnominal letters KNVI or DNVI, dependent on gender.
