The Micro Euro Summit 2023 (MES23) was the second Micro Euro Summit, which took place from 14 - 16 July 2023 in the castle of Chyše, Czech Republic, hosted by Obscurium and by Duckionary. 10 Micronations attended, those being Edristan, Duckionary, Ethos Island, Obscurium, Užupis, Waronia, the Federated Micronations of Musania, the Noodle Patchwork Family, Slitronia and Græcia. This was the second Micro Euro Summit which was held. The summit's success and positive feedback started the organization of another edition, planned for the summer of 2024. The Micro Euro Summit 2024 took place from 19-21 July 2024 in Chyše for the time being the last time, before the MES will have a new venue in 2025.
Event Details
The Micro Euro Summit 2023 was organized by a planning committee comprising Zar Antonov, Arthur C. de Tourneau and Mr Olsen. It was held at the Chateau Brewery in Chyše. A total of 24 delegates from the 10 participating micronations attended the summit. Dr Sandra Petermann from the University of Mainz participated as a scientific observer.
Conference Program
July 14
The summit started on July 14, 2023, with the setup of displays in the conference room and a soft opening in the scenic beer garden of Chyše Castle Brewery, which later moved to the adjacent restaurant.
July 15
On July 15, 2023, the main conference began at approximately 9 am, featuring speakers from different participating micronations. The presentations covered various topics, including seasteading, micronational currencies, and gentrification's impact on micronations, among others. Later in the day, a photo shoot and a castle tour took place. In the late afternoon there was a special event in the old brewery cellars of Chyše with a hundred tea lights, wine and small appetizers, accompanied by mystical music.
In the evening a diplomatic dinner and awards ceremony was held in the castle restaurant. Several participants received medals and certificates. The day concluded with a night walk to the nearby Church of the Annunciation.
July 16
On July 16, 2023, some delegates went on an excursion into the old Soviet bunker "Jasyr" near Valeč, after which they gathered at the Valeč Castle Café, followed by a visit to the local sculpture park. A few participants explored the abandoned brewery cellars in Valeč. Later the abandoned monastery in Chyše was also visited and there was a small final parade through Chyše.
July 17
The Micro Euro Summit 2023 officially concluded on July 17, 2023, with some delegations taking the opportunity to explore the renowned spa town of Karlovy Vary before departing.
