General of the People's Armed Forces of the Arstotzkan Union

General of the People's Armed Forces of the Arstotzkan Union, often shortened to General of the Armed Forces is the commander and chief of the People's Armed Forces of the Arstotzkan Union. It is a rank that is only held by the First President of the Arstotzkan Union. It is equivalent to a five-star general or Field Marshal. Many Generals had their origins in the Arstotzkan Army Corps, meanwhile the incumbent General Ethan Brinkman has served as a member of the Army and Marines.

History

The rank of General of the PAFAU is a new rank. However two people have held the rank due to its close relationship with the Office of the Presidency. However the rank for Commander and Chief dates back to the origins of the Arstotzkan Union. On 22 August 2019, President Ethan Brinkman became the first General of the Army (GOA) which was the rank held by the Commander and Chief until 12 June 2020 when it became General of the National Defense Forces (GNDF) until 2 November 2020, when the rank became just Major General (Mjr. Gen.). On 31 May 2021 the rank became officially known as Kommondant of the Arstotzkan Union National Defense Forces (Kmdt. of the AUNDF), which was a change as the rank was only a title and a not a rank like Major General or Lieutenant General. On 31 October the rank changed one more time becoming Kommondant of the Arstotzkan Union Defense Forces (Kmdt. of the AUDF).

With the changing of the name of the Arstotzkan Union Defense Forces, the rank became Kommondant of the People's Armed Forces on 22 November 2022. Finally on 11 March 2023 First President Ethan Brinkman made the rank to General of the People's Armed Forces.

Powers

The General has major powers of the People's Armed Forces of the Arstotzkan Union. They have the power to:

• Command both branches
• Institute / create military operations
• Enforce military orders on soldiers
• Enlist new soldiers and approve enlistment

However the General and First President do not have the ability to declare war and are subject to rule from the Arstotzkan Executive War Council if they find evidence of a breach in the War and Conflicts Act 2021.
