Constitution of Cristoria

The House of Scribes (German: Haus der Schriftgelehrten) is the lower house of the Parliament of the Kingdom of Cristoria. Formerly known as the House of Commons, the House of Scribes has a myriad of responsibilities to uptake that are elaborated in the October 2023 Constitution of the Kingdom of Cristoria. Due its nature of being the lower house, the House of Scribes holds significantly more power than the House of Missiones.

History

The House of Scribes, originally known as the House of Commons and having been the lower house in all of its history since the inception of the Parliament of Cristoria, has undergone various changes alongside the upper house, the House of Missiones. The Hosue of Missiones was established on 6 August 2021 under the 2021 Government of the Kingdom of Cristoria.

House of Commons

On 6 August 2021 following the dissolution of the Empire of Cristoria, the 2021 Kingdom of Cristoria established a Parliament. The Parliament, being bicameral, had an upper house and lower house. The upper house was the House of Commons and the lower house was the House of Commons. Thus, the House of Commons was established. The House of Commons passed the decision to declare war on the Kingdom of Huntia and the Gorthian Federation in the year 2022 that as a result started the Cristoro-Huntian Cold War and the War on Gorthalism. On 25 November 2022, the entire House of Commons finalized and voted on the last law that would be passed in the 2021 Kingdom of Cristoria, the aforementioned being the bill that removed religious symbols from government insignia.

House of Missiones

Following the dissolution of the Republic of Cristoria and after the reestablishment of the Kingdom of Cristoria, the October 2023 Constitution was written and drafted as the law of the land and included in the constitution under Article One, Section Three, the House of Scribes was established as part of the wider Parliament of Cristoria[1] alongside the House of Missiones.

Structure

Almost identical to the House of Missiones, the House of Scribes is established by the Constitution to have a total of forty seats of which can be all filled by elected politicians to represent their political party in the Parliament of Cristoria every twelve months (or a year). The duties of the House of Scribes are also layed out in the Constitution. Primary duties of the House of Scribes include proposing legislation, to His or Her Majesty and the Prime Minister, proposing motions, resolutions, and bills to Parliament, approve budget cuts or raises, confirm key appointments that were not carried out by His or Her Majesty or the Prime Minister, and to provide scrutiny and oversight over preceeding governmental agencies.[1]
