Constitution
Constitution of Cristoria

The House of Missiones (German: Haus der Missionen) is the upper house of the Parliament of the Kingdom of Cristoria. Formerly known as the House of Lords, the House of Missiones is responsible for proposing bills to the House of Scribes and overseeing preceeding agencies that hold lower power than the House of Missiones.

History

The House of Missiones has undergone extensive changes and modifications since its original inception as the House of Lords in August 2021 when the 2021 Government of the Kingdom of Cristoria established it, despite not wielding its own constitution that constitutes its existence.

House of Lords

On 6 August 2021, following the dissolution of the Empire of Cristoria, the 2021 Government of the Kingdom of Cristoria established a Parliament. The upper house of the aforementioned Parliament was the House of Lords, with its original structure holding a maximum of twenty seats and not being very organized. During its time under the 2021 Government, the House of Lords was responsible for a myriad of important things that were vital to Cristorian history. The House of Lords was responsible for some of the first reactions to the Cristoro-Huntian Cold War and the War on Gorthalism. Following the dissolution of the 2021 Government of the Kingdom of Cristoria on 23 December 2022, the House of Lords followed soon after. Thus, the House of Lords was then considered to be nonexistent and dissolved.

House of Missiones

Following the dissolution of the Republic of Cristoria and after the reestablishment of the Kingdom of Cristoria, the October 2023 Constitution was written and drafted as the law of the land and included in the constitution under Article One, Section Three, the House of Missiones was established as part of the wider Parliament of Cristoria.[1] The House of Missiones and its sister house, the House or Scribes, are uniquely a Cristorian concept and are the first of their kind to appear in any Cristorian legislature. As a result, the legislative process is taken seriously compared to that of the House of Lords.

Structure

The House of Missiones is established by the Constitution to have a total of forty seats of which can be all filled by elected politicians to represent a territory in the Kingdom of Cristoria every twelve months (or a year). The duties of the House of Missiones are also layed out in the Constitution. Primary duties consist of voting on legislative matters such as bills, acts, laws, and constitutional ammendments, reviewing legislation proposed by the House of Scribes, and representing the people that filled the house with politicians through parliamentary elections. It is elaborated that the House of Missiones doesn't have as much power as the House of Scribes does, however the House of Missiones is still crucial to the passage of legislation within the Parliament of Cristoria.[1]
