The name, Hornkrow, comes from the combination of horn and crow. This means, "The land looks like a horn, where crows live".

History

On 26 June 2023, it was established by Henry Vireyica. A day later on 27 June, its flag was adopted. A few months later on 2 November, it switched locations. On 24 July 2024, Hornkrow was demoted of county status to a special territory.
