The Colonial Assembly is the house of government of Culver. It consists of 4 seats held by Members of Colonial Assembly (MCA), and is filled by appointment of the Lord Governor. Upon the colony's promotion to dominion, the seats will be filled by election. The Colonial Assembly currently has 4 members from 2 parties, all of which form the cabinet of Culver, currently the Celenic premiership. This national government arrangement will exist through the colonies development phase, and will likely revert to one-party ministries upon the colony's promotion to dominion.
Unlike Culver's mother country, Baustralia, the Assembly is a unicameral house, with limited sovereignity. The assembly is a supplement of the Baustralian Parliament, and all successful Acts of Assembly must also be successful in Cascadia's House of Commons.
History
The Assembly was formed on 8 July 2024, alongside the formation of the colony proper. Three members were immediately co-opted, all joining Celenic's conservative party. On 23 July, a new party was formed, and the leader of the party was co-opted into the assembly. This party, the Culverian People's Party, was shortly entered into the Celenic premiership, which formed a coalition until the government is fully staffed and operational.
