The 2021 Adammic Chess Open was the inaugural Adammic Chess Open, and was the first tournament to be hosted by the Adammic Chess Association since its establishment the prior August. Round-robin stages were held for two groups on 30–31 January 2021, followed by semi-finals and a final on 6 February. Artemis Baca of Sandus won the tournament, defeating Adammic honourary citizen Sir Alex Waters 2-0 in the best-of-three final.
Background
The Adammic Chess Association had been founded in the wake of the 2020 Adammia Games, where a small chess tournament with four players had been one of the main events. Emperor Adam I, Lady Amity Gilmour and Sir Alex Waters constituted its first Board of Directors. Efforts to organise a new chess tournament in late 2020 were hampered by the 2020 general election and the Emperor's decision to stand in the December 2020 GUM election. The date of the tournament was finalised in early January and it was promoted in the Empire of Adammia Facebook group, the Grand Unified Micronational and the Micropolitan Club and Lounge.
