Time in St. John
Early history and adoption of UTC +07:30
Previously, St. John (and its predecessor micronations) used the UTC+7:00 in western regions (such as Vredesstad and Kraton) and UTC+8:00 in Bergstraat, the same as other micronations within Indonesian sector. However, on 19 June 2018, the government of St. John announced that the time for the western part of St. John will be advanced to 30 minutes. As a result, the western part of St. John uses the UTC+07:30 time zone, commonly referred as Vredesstad Time (abbreviated as VT; Indonesian: Waktu Vredesstad).
2020 time zone merge
On 15 February 2020, the government of St. John approved the proposal to merge St. John's time zones as a whole into UTC+08:00 as it received public approval. The government later announced that the time zone merger would be implemented on 6 June 2020. However, the merging of the time zone was delayed by a day, so it was only officially inaugurated on June 7, 2020.
