The Republic of New Santos (Indonesian: Republik Santos Baru), also simply known as New Santos, was a short-lived micronation, as an attempt to reinstate the government of the defunct Federal Republic of Santos by John Gregory, the former President of Santos. The micronation lasted from April to May 2013 and was eventually dissolved.
The Republic of St. John, another micronational project by Gregory, is regarded as the de jure successor both Santos and New Santos.
History
After the dissolution of the Kingdom of William Ranger on 2 April 2013, John Gregory, the former King of William Ranger, declared the foundation of the Republic of New Santos on 7 April 2013 in hope to restore the Federal Republic of Santos, the predecessor state of William Ranger (Gregory is also the former President of Santos).
Despite the ambition, the micronation was ignored shortly thereafter and received very few attention throughout its existence and ultimately dissolved on 23 May 2013 as the founder have completely lost their enthusiasm for New Santos.
On 20 December 2013, the Republic of St. John was established as the de jure successor of the Republic of New Santos.
