Garal, officially the Sovereign State of Garal (spanish: Estado Soberano de Garal), is a spanish-speaking self-declared independent state, or more commonly known as a micronation, located in southwestern Europe, on the Iberian Peninsula . It has an area of 1044 square foot (97 m2) and is bordered by Spain.
Garal is an absolute and elective Monarchy headed by the Dux.
History
Before becoming an independent state, the territory was part of the Kingdom of Aragon, the Crown of Aragon and the Kingdom of Spain .
Foundation
The Sovereign State of Garal was established on 3 February 2023 (15th mid winter of the year I in Garalian calendar) when a man named Ferr Garal claimed his house independent from Spain. After that, he was elected first Dux (head of state) of the new micronation by a citizens assembly.
Absolute Monarch
Since foundation Dux Ferr Garal ruled as an absolute monarch but he established the Great Council by law on 27 May 2023 (8th late spring of the year II) as an advisory body to the Dux.
Ferr Garal institute a new calendar, named [Garalian calendar], which was established in february 2023, and decided that the year of the foundation of Sovereign State of Garal, was to be known as Year I.
Politics and government
Garal is a unitary state and has an absolute and elective Monarchy where the Dux is the Head of State. The current and so far only Dux is H.M.S.H Ferr Garal.
Dux
The Dux is the chief magistrate and leader of the Sovereign State of Garal. The word descend from the Latin dux, meaning either "spiritual leader" or "military commander" and was the title of the senior-most elected official of Venice and Genoa.
The Dux has supreme jurisdiction in government, made legislation and judicial matters.
The Dux is elected for life by the Great Council
Great Council
The Great Council is the general assembly of citizens from which the Dux is elected.
Also, the Great Council meets annually. It assumes the legislative function, serves as an advisory body to the Dux and citizens can submit petitions to the head of state.
Administrative divisions
State Sovereign of Garal is divided into communes that are entitled under the Law of communes to secede from the state by majority vote of the neighbors.
The autonomy of the garalian communes is in the upper range compared to the other European states.

Geography
The Sovereign State of Garal is a landlocked micronation located in southwestern Europe, on the Iberian Peninsula. Its total surface area is 1044 square foot (97 m2), with an elevation of 1.095,8 ft (334 m) above sea level. Land in Garal is very flat and has no distinctive natural features.
Climate
Garal has a semi-arid climate (Köppen: BSk) with moderately cool winters with some rain to hot, mostly dry summers with little rain and thunderstorms. Heavy rains happen in spring and autumn. There is approximately 1 snowy day every year. Some years have no snowfall while others have a few days of snow. Heavy snow is unknown.

Culture
Language
The official language of Sovereign State of Garal is Spanish, a Romance language derived from Latin.
Religion
Garal is a secular country in which freedom of religion is a basic right. Religious policy is based on the concept of laicism, a strict separation of church and state under which public life is kept completely secular.
Calendar
The Garalian calendar is a solar calendar used by the Sovereign State of Garal.
The beginning of each year is on 20th march (veral equinox at Northern Hemisphere). There has twelve months. The sixth, twelfth, eighteenth, twenty-fourth and the last day of each month is the day of rest and festivity. The five or six extra days needed to approximate the solar or tropical year are placed after the months on summer solstice (2), autumnal equinox (2) and winter solstice (1). In each leap year, after the month of Late Winter is placed a Leap day.
